Chuck,
Don't forget towing.
Recharging to only 80% versus a full tank of gas in less than 10 minutes.
Broken charging stations versus broken gas pumps.
Exactly, Glen. You start doing real truck things with that EV, like towing, and the range drops even more. A no go for many of us.

Chinese manufacturers don't have to deal with unions... or labor laws.

I've reached the point in my life where I'm willing to pay a little more for an American-made product.
They also don't have all the safety equipment required to be on the road in the US. If they are forced to add those things to their cheap EVs they may not be so cheap anymore. And I'm with you; I'll pay a little more for something from Ford or (God forbid) GM before I'll give my money to the Chinese.

So your home does not have an electrical grid, eh?

You are 1% of 1%. And your POV carries that much weight I'm afraid.
Another snarky reply from the peanut gallery. Have fun spending hours waiting for your EV to "fill up". I will be out enjoying life. And pat yourself on the back for using green energy which is anything but.

I had a Bolt EV for 6 years.
I spent less time recharging it than refueling my Maverick.

Took 30 seconds to plug in the cord once every 2 weeks. 30 seconds to unplug it. That comes to 2 minutes per month "refueling".
How much time do you spend refueling?

Most; not all of my 60,000 miles came from photovoltaic solar panels. The collage here had a whole parking lot covered by them. Charging was free to students and staff, and cost only $2 for visitors. (Recently went to $3)

250 miles for $3.

How far do you drive on $3 right now?

The peanut gallery wants to know.

Dear peanut gallery, I live in a state that has the absolute best Kroger's gas program. I make aggressive use of gift cards for everything, buying them when K has their 4x points in place, which is every month. Most states cap the amount you can use at $1 per refueling incident and 35 gals max, but our state lets you us up to 100% of the price if you have enough points, or 0.9 cents/gal since they only work in whole numbers. I oftentimes get 35 gals for 0.9 cents/gal, and I have 50 gals worth of spare cans. My most recent fillup was not as aggressive but I believe I paid ~25 cents per gal. Since we get 50+mpg in city driving and 40+ on the highway, I'll average 45mpg. 25 cents will give me 12 gals of gas for $3 and about 540 miles of driving. No refueling in between and I buy gas once each month. And I haven't even shown how attractive it can be when I pay the absolute lowest price, which I have been fortunate to do fairly often. Can your EV beat that convenience?

I am looking to see what Ford brings about with this new EV.
I am not personally ready to go full EV .. but ER-EV has my interest as a stepping stone.

But they do have to deal with disgruntled slaves.

Guess what
Ford Mexico doesn't offer the Maverick with the 2.0l ecoboost engine anymore!
The only option is the Hybrid 2.5l for the 2026MY!!!
I'm speechless
I'm glad I got the 2024 Lariat Tremor!!!

If you routinely tow or haul large loads, live in a rural setting, work on a farm, or drive on long trips regularly, then don't buy this one. And frankly this isn't going to be marketed to you anyway. I've put 16,000 miles on my Maverick over three years and I have only one trip on record where the one-way direction was more than 350 miles. Nowadays, I would just take the Expedition anyway.

Even in central Alabama, an EV Maverick would be plenty for 99% of my use. Given I barely drive it more than once a week, plugging it in once a month to charge on my 110V is not going to be that big of an issue. If I need to charge faster, there are Tesla chargers five miles from the house in front of the Target we go to monthly.

That said, I have no plans to get rid of my Maverick. With how little I use it, I plan to just enjoy the next 15 years without a car payment.

I was well aware of the term and its military history, I found it amusing that they could not come up with something more original.
Yeah, It's become a bit of a general term. Maybe "ForWorks" as an alternative?

Ford’s new electric van looks exactly like an undercover cop car.
