They change the color options every year, and every year it seems they have one-year-only colors (often at extra cost). This is a cheap way to generate some sort of interest, without bothering to create any specific parts to go along with the color. While I'm completely indifferent on the color choice, Ford only offers a few color options and this seems a weird one to use. Unless Ford has a lot of leftover blue and white and is simply looking for a reason to use it up.
That said, I've always called this color "leftover paint" and my wife and daughter love it. The shade changing to match whatever leftover paint they had the year before.

I call it that because that looks very similar to the color that resulted from a Dirty Jobs episode where Mike Rowe mixed a bunch of leftover paint together.
Ford has all kinds of weird colors that are used for fleet vehicles. They starting dipping into them for retail vehicles with the Grabber colors of the first muscle era.
I'm sure some people think the current orange that is offered is a weird choice, too.
