Not necessarily true.

For decades, I've habitually buckled up before starting my car, but when I buckle up before pressing the brake and pushing the start button in my '25 Lariat, that annoying reminder shows up and does not go off until I press the "OK" button. Not only is that at least as annoying as any of the other incredibly annoying things about the vehicle, but (as is true with all those other things) it is 100% unnecessary.
It seems as if this only works if all the seatbelts in the back row are also buckled before starting the truck. If not, it doesn't matter if the driver is buckled or not before starting the truck, the seatbelt status screen will still show up.

Are the 3 rear seats buckled? You quoted half of my post. Possible 2025 is different than 2024. I can only comment on how my Maverick operates not all of them. Rear seats buckled or extenders in place, driver seat buckled, NO passenger, start truck, no pop up. Now IF, a conditional clause :) , you have a front seat passenger who is not buckled it will pop up. Also the pop up will go away on it's own but very slow to do so which is annoying. I have also done it by starting the truck then buckling and it disappears in a second after I buckle up.

I only quoted half of your original quote because I did not disagree with the first half. And no, the rear seat belts are not buckled because the seats are empty.

You're saying the rear seat belts must be buckled even though nobody is back there (and there's nothing on the seats?

yes. There are no presence sensors in the rear seat like there is in the front seats

Ford is probably testing out the usage before required.
Either you warn because someone is back there because weight sensor says there is - or you attempt to guess by back doors opening/closing.
And because that logic doesn't work well - assume there is.
Well - assume when making it too cheap to include weight sensors.

DETROIT (AP) — Starting in September of 2027, all new passenger vehicles in the U.S. will have to sound a warning if rear-seat passengers don’t buckle up.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Monday that it finalized the rule, which also requires enhanced warnings when front seat belts aren’t fastened.

The agency estimates that the new rule will save 50 lives per year and prevent 500 injuries when fully in effect, according to a statement.

The new rule will apply to passenger cars, trucks, buses except for school buses, and multipurpose vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds.

I think the logic fault behind your statement is in the fact that the seat belt screen that pops up does NOT show any warnings for the back seat. It just shows the green check mark for the driver's seat.

Try some other tests:
Have someone sit in the passenger seat without buckling red X if my memory serves correct.
Then try buckling all three rear seat belts.

Do you have trouble with your drivers door locking you out also 🤣?
You answered your own post with the picture. Note the green check for the LATCHED seatbelts. Until the computer sees the 3 rear latched the pop up will continue and you will have to clear it.

I am no expert on the software but by it's behavior it seems they took the easy route of coding for ALWAYS 3 people in the back that need buckled. I noticed that if the front belts were buckled at start it still would pop up for the rears even if no one was in the seats.
Yes I always thought it was because there are no weight sensors in the seats. I learned about this trick months ago and I'm so glad I did :) I have a 2025 Tremor and for me there is no situation where the three seatbelt trick does not work. I'll occasionally haul people in the back seat. When they ride with me, they just know they have to unbuckle the belt before they get in hehe
