I know very little about Sync. I recently turned off all connectivity(ford pass etc.) on my Maverick's infotainment unit to lessen it's impact on my original 12V battery state of charge.
This appears to be a more elegant way of doing the same thing while retaining some useful functions. YMMV

AI for sure! Nonsense why?
Which of these six steps will not work to lessen the draw-down rate of the 12V battery when the vehicle is not running?
2024 Sync 3 only one of the six was findable. 2.0l ecoboost

Would love for someone that has the option for Ford Connectivity still - to see if the WiFi hotspot option is actually left broadcasting, past the 60 min go to sleep time especially.
Normal wifi AP only uses at worst 1.67 A, from 0.4 A.
Yes that's not great if broadcasting all night - but I'm doubtful. Ya, of AI.

Ford connectivity - eh 40-80 mA once per hour when sitting to confirm the network connection stays up.
The bigger problem is it going off the rails confused about something.

Voice recognition - when off, or only Accessory mode?
Don't people know by now you can't sit in Acc mode for a very long time - besides which things turn off automatically after awhile anyway.

Pre-25MY should disable updates - we ain't getting any updates to the infotainment system.
But useful for 25/26 for infrequent drivers.

Bluetooth - I could see that.

The AI video is draining my brain. Why are these things so repetitious and they just repeat so much garbage without getting to the points. It's almost like someone says generate me a 20 minute video and then it automatically pads it out with garbage. It was kind of bad enough when you couldn't actually search and find text for a solution for anything and all you would get would be videos that you had to listen forever to get what you needed. Now we have AI that just generates wordy crap videos.

Its ALL for "likes" and "click-bait".
That ='s $$$$$$ :cautious:
The more the click... the higher it appears on someone's search results...

I use GROK AI….let that sink in.

Although it did instruct me how to keep Synch out:)

I depend on forum members to mention if there are any important OTA updates that I missed. None so far. Build Date 3/25 on my Lobo.
You use the AI system that is being sued because it allowed removing clothes from minors?

Ok.
"You do you", but I wouldn't brag about that.

Video Summary:

Six Ford Sync system settings that can drain a parked vehicle’s battery:
  • Wi‑Fi hotspot: The built‑in hotspot stays active even when parked, using 85–120 mA continuously. Disable hotspot broadcasting when not needed.
  • FordPass / connected vehicle mode: The telematics module remains semi‑awake for remote access (40–80 mA). Set Connected Vehicle/Telematics to reduced connectivity.
  • Wake‑word monitoring: “Hey Ford” voice activation keeps microphones and processors listening (30–60 mA). Turn off the wake‑word feature and use the steering‑wheel button for voice control.
  • Automatic over‑the‑air updates: Sync may power up at night to download updates, drawing over 300 mA. Switch updates from automatic to manual.
  • Extended vehicle activity: This mode keeps Sync components running for up to 45 minutes after shutdown (25–40 W draw). Turn it off unless you need it.
  • Bluetooth polling and contact sync: Sync pings for devices and updates contacts even when idle. Disable automatic contact download and connect manually.
Overall: Turning off or limiting these features prevents unnecessary battery drain when the vehicle is parked.
