Ok just spent the bulk of the afternoon reading and trying to absorb this topic (all 27 pages)
So let me see if I have a decent summary. Feel free to correct anything I say incorrectly.
1. An Escape cluster mechanically and electrically is plug and play, provided you match the engine/drivetrain (ecoboost vs. Hybrid), with the following caveats: you need to disable specific drive modes to get the rest to work properly since the Escape cluster interprets these drive modes differently. Also there is no fix for the console button to retain disabling traction control with the Escape. Based upon the post below there is currently no known Escape cluster that will work in a Maverick ecoboost FWD, since they are all for AWD.
2. Explorer clusters are electrically plug and play, but the cluster and the Maverick dash need to be modified/trimmed to fit mechanically. The Explorer cluster does allow all possible Maverick drive modes, and does not prohibit the console button to turn off traction control. The only thing I didn't pick up on, is there a variant of an Explorer cluster that will work for a ecoboost FWD since one doesn't exist from an Escape?

Perfect, thanks! And no I have an Ecoboost.
I actually have a pretty easy method, but the biggest thing was figuring out the part numbers. I will have a post on how to source one once I complete the list and once I get a 2nd or 3rd one for myself before the price gets driven up.
So far what I have is the following:
LJ6T-10849-JEA(Mine)(2.0 Ecoboost AWD w/out Manual mode)(P,R,N,D,L)
LJ6T-10849-DEK(2.0 Ecoboost AWD w/manual mode)(P,R,N,D,M)
LJ6T-10849-DKK (Hybrid AWD)
LJ6T-10849-DEG(Currently unknown)(Ecoboost?)
LJ6T-10849-DTG(Currently unknown)(Ecoboost?)
LJ6T-10849-DLG(Currently unknown)(Hybrid?)
*LJ6Z-10849-DKG(Not confirmed)(Hybrid)(New revision?)
