In 2013 I bought a New F150 STX 5.0 for $24,500. Both my Mavericks in 23 and 25 were more. It is what it is.

Unfortunately, the issue is that buyers continue to purchase vehicles in record numbers regardless of the prices being charged. That STX today with inflation should cost around $36,000 and you're looking well over $42,000 with options.

As long as there are buyers for absurdly priced vehicles they will continue to rise.

EDIT: And I am certainly guilty of contributing to those numbers. Even just with the Maverick between my 2023 XLTremor and now 2025 AWD Hybrid Lariat.

we might go back,OTH the prices will never be reasonable again,in1990 my uncle bought a new f150 4x4 for around 13K,in the last 10 years the prices on new trucks has more then doubled.

Don't forget that your investment portfolio has MORE than doubled in the last 10 years. You should be $$$ ahead.

Sticker was $31,500 then. And it had most options, but was RWD only. 4x4 would add $4k.

the beetle would leave them in the snow,the squarebacks would push snow with the bumper,I actually miss the beetle and would love to have one again,I think the rear drive Telo might be a fair substitute( the designers listened to me a bit!

But if that happens, we stay home. And even the interstate is closed until they can put some sawdust on the bridges. Thankfully, it doesn't matter if a vehicle is good in snow for us

I have noticed on the southeastern coast 2 WD vehicles are popular and common,most of the time even AWD systems are not needed,the comment on people having enough sense to stay home during ice events is good!

Where I live 4wd trucks are fairly common. But mainly for mud. but most people never use theirs if it's selectable. People buy the AWD Maverick for the 4k towing capability. And the AWD car/suv/crossover is relatively rare. We get the ice on the road about once every 10 years or less on average.

I can say first hand, The "Superior" remark are from idiots...
A vehicle maybe "Better Suited" for inclement weather.
But, driving in such conditions, STILL Depends Solely on the Driver..

I have driven RWD Rangers (with 400# of rear weight) and my FWD Maverick. And have done better than many 4x4s.
Our local morons, think they can do, 65+ mph in a heavy snow fall.
They may have passed me.. But, a mile down the road. They are the ones, with their "Four Wheels" up in the air..

They DO make for an a amusing drives, in the winter...

No...AWD and 4x4 are superior in the snow. Hard stop.

However it only helps you get going. It doesn't help you stop and doesn't help you when you are at speed.

Yes and what you’ve witnessed is exactly what I just stated. AWD and 4x4 only help you get going. They don’t provide traction at speed and they don’t help you slow down.

Nothing will make up for bad driving. But I'm thinking that given the same driver, AWD or 4wd will be superior to 2wd. If I'm a decent driver, my fwd or rwd may struggle on a wet clay path, but the AWD or 4wd will likely have an easier time of it. Or a 4wd vehicle that BARELY makes it through a path may be impossible for a rwd or fwd vehicle. This i know. I'm thinking it's similar for snow as well.

I have lived in the snow belt my whole life. Out of 50 plus vehicles, I have only owned 5 that were 4x4 or awd. 2 were tow trucks, one I ordered that way to have the ultimate capabilities in one unit. The second was my first tow truck that was dirt cheap. It just happed to have 4x4. Then I had 2 Bronco II 4x4's bought as service vehicles. Never had a real need for it.

I almost bought a 25 FWD Maverick locally, but the dealer tried to rip me off. So I bought the AWD one. I usually drove RWD Vehicles only. Besides a FWD HHR Panel, and My 23 Maverick. If you know how to drive, you shouldn't need anything else. But the AWD is nice in rain and snow, and it is the only way to get the 4K tow.
