Ford heat pads (elements) for Driver & Passenger front seats. (Fairwayford.net)
Seat Cushion Heater - Ford (NZ6Z-14D696-A)
Seat Back Heater - Ford (NZ6Z-14D696-B)
HVAC Module from a Maverick XLT with Lux Package
Seat heating pads harness with Yazaki male connectors, 4-Pin, 2-Pin
HVAC module to Seat harness with 16 Awg GXL and 22 Awg TXL wire
Splice, 22 Awg onto HVAC Signal Return for heat pad temperature sensors
12V from BCM Fuse 7 (20Amp) on C2280C pin 1 to HVAC C228B Pins 1,2 for Seat Heat Feed.

Redneck Garage leather seat video to help remove/install seat covers for heat pads install.
DTF Garage video @6:08 for HVAC Module removal.

My 23 XLT seat body harness have the wiring on the connector (C305 Driver, C331 Passenger) for heated seats.
But the other end of harness C201 under dead pedal and C207 above RH kick panel had no wires on connector side going to HVAC module.
C200 under dead pedal did have +12V (F38 30A, F39 20A) for heated seats from BJB, but no wires out for the seats.
Used existing Ground on each seat body harness connector for the heat pads.

Removed each seat cover, installed Ford heat pads that have covered adhesive.
Made seat heat harness for each seat that connects to heat pad Yazaki connectors and the seat Molex MX150 connector.

Made harness with (1) 16 Awg seat heat feed , (2) 22 Awg for seat cushion temperature sense for HVAC C228B to Front Seats.
(1) 22 Awg that is spliced onto Sig Rtn near C228A.
Two Sig Rtn wires are needed, one for each seat. I just wanted to reduce my 1st splice thickness near the HVAC C228A connector.
I added another 22 Awg onto that wire under the floor console so have a Sig Rtn wire going to each seat.

Run my tesa taped harness along existing harness that goes up above and then down toward RH side of floor console.
Then ran harness in the floor console. Y off to each seat just behind front mount bolts, under carpet & up from carpet where existing body harness is for each seat.
Removed (depinned) existing body harness connector heated wires and installed my wires from the HVAC module in their place on each seat body harness connector.

BCM Fuse 7 C2280C pin 1 to splice for (2) 16 Awg Red to HVAC C228B pin 1, pin 2
Used a pigtail with female terminal from WPT-1778 (BLACK) as it cost less than WPT-1777 (GRAY).
The female terminals in both pigtail kits are the same.
The Black, Gray connectors are keyed different.

BCM Fuses F7 30Amp on C2280C pin 1 and F14 30Amp on C2280C pin 2 are hot all time.
On a Lariat these Fuses would be for DDM/PDM that my XLT doesn't have.

I replaced the F7 30A fuse with a 20A Micro2 fuse since heat pads amp draw max is just over 13 Amps with both Drive & Passenger set to High at the same time.

Used the "As Built Compare utility" to compare HVAC As Built without Heated Seats to HVAC with Heated Seats As Built.
Used Livinitup 2023 Maverick Forscan sheet for HVAC config settings info.

Wrote my original HVAC's As Built into the HVAC with Lux module, then did the As Built edits needed to enable Heated Front Seats.

Heated Seats Amps measured with a clamp meter on F7 20A Fuse to HVAC C228B pins 1, 2 :
Driver seat on High, then switched to Medium, then to Low, and then both seats On.

12V is switched On/Off to the heat elements to maintain temperature set point.
On High the 12V is switch On/Off frequently, then less often on Medium, even less on Low setting.

6 Amp draw from one seat Series connected Seat Cushion pad and the Seat Back pad.
The seat cushion (bottom) pad contains the NTC temperature sensor.
Both Seats set to High at same time can see 13 Amps draw from F7 fuse.

Way more involved than I'd be willing to do, but I'm sure the results are much better than any aftermarket installation.

When I've done aftermarket heated seats, I just get the generic seat heater pads and wire them on a completely separate circuit. Makes it easy to eliminate it as a cause when troubleshooting electrical issues.

Ford heat pads (elements) for Driver & Passenger front seats. (Fairwayford.net)
Seat Cushion Heater - Ford (NZ6Z-14D696-A)

HVAC Module from a Maverick XLT with Lux Package
Seat heating pads harness with Yazaki male connectors, 4-Pin, 2-Pin

12V from BCM Fuse 7 (20Amp) on C2280C pin 1 to HVAC C228B Pins 1,2 for Seat Heat Feed.

Redneck Garage leather seat video to help remove/install seat covers for heat pads install.

Run my harness along existing harness that goes up above and down toward RH side of floor console.
Then ran harness in the floor console. Y off to each seat just behind front mount bolts & up where existing body harness is for each seat.
Removed existing body harness heated wires and installed my wires from the HVAC module.

Nice to know the back and the seat part have separate connectors. Know to find the time and motivation to add a resistor to the seat portion. I'd rather have more heat on my back than my buns.

100%

I drive with the heated seats on throughout the year - almost never because my butt is cold but because the heat really helps with my back issues.

Being able to have just the back portion heated would be a MAJOR improvement in my life.

I may have to figure out a way to switch the seat portion off now... :)

You get an A++ for effort and documentation. I wonder how many luxury packages Ford would not sell on the XL if they just offered electric seats. I pretty much didn't want anything else. As an alternative, you could buy an aftermarket seat pad For $75 and plug it into 12 volt port.

The heat pads are connected in series so adding a resistor to one pad would reduce current through both pads I think.

The seat pad has the temperature sensor. If it doesn't send feedback to the HVAC module, the pads don't heat up. I saw this when removing the NTC wires from the seat connector when testing.

I'd also thought about adding a switch to my Escape as sometimes I wanted less heat to it than the seat pad. But I don't think that would work after looking at the wiring diagram.

12V goes into seat pad to back pad to ground.

Looks like a great reason to spring for a Lariat!

thanks. maybe the resistor needs to go across the the lower portion instead of inline with it then. I'll have to experiment. The temperature sensor needs adjustment. It's too hot on 3 where the system defaults on remote start.

I thought about DIY on my 25 XL AWD Hybrid 4k, but decided to let the local Catskinz installer do it. We couldn't be happier. He showed up with a large cargo trailer workshop on a winter day.
Pulled the entire seats out, went into his trailer did the work on a bench, reinstalled with proper switches, fuses and wiring.
$600 for all parts and labor.
Heated seats were the only thing we wanted above XL trim.
Lots less than XLT with additional packages.
