Sorry this happened to you. As far as your question, how permanent do you want this to be? You can easily get a Garmin similar to mine, stick the magnetic mount on the windshield, run the cable down to a cigarette lighter port, and in 15 minutes, you're done. Or, like others have mentioned, go to Best Buy or a car audio shop and have them mount and install it.
Someone shot my Model 3 with a .22 on our outerbelt about 3.5 years ago. I had been in my vehicle all of 90 seconds, had just completed a 75 mile bike ride, and was on my way to my house. Got on the on ramp and someone flew up next to me in the shoulder, then braked abruptly, got behind me and fired two shots of which 1 hit the lower plastic lip on the rear bumper. I could smell it immediately in my car.
