Old guys and their silicone caulk.
I wouldn't have done any better.
I went so far as to buy one of these, finishing tools I saw on an infomercial years ago.

I found out I'm allergic to the fumes of uncured silicone. It remains unused in the box.
Thankfully that limits my use of silicone.
