I believe power to the dash is controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM). It seems unlikely that you had a massive hardware failure. Most likely, it was a software bug that resulted in your glitch. The networked systems in modern cars have so many arcane interactions that Ford may never understand them well enough to actually find and fix such problems. If it happens again, test unrelated items like the power windows & door locks to see if you can determine how widespread the issue is.

Had this happen to me except it was a total black out and did not come back. Diag and testing revealed a failure to activate the lighting from the APIM. Resulted in replacement of the Instrument cluster.

On occasion, I'll go out to get something from my truck and the interior lights won't come on when I open the door. Most times they do. Wonder if it's related.

Interior lights not coming on normally means 12v battery is less than 11(?) Volts and truck is getting close to deep sleep. Consider charging battery.

I've only had it since July. You wouldn't think it would be low already, but who knows. I can throw a charger on it and see. Thanks 👍

FWIW. Just starting my 20th month of my hybrid lariat with no indication of pending sleep and never had deep sleep BUT on the first AM of temp below 75 (it was 68°F), my 12v showed 11.8v. put 82 miles on it then 2nd morning after battery was at 11.9v. DANG!!!!

I did not check voltage but when my Tremor came in and I had it two weeks and had 200 miles, I put my noco genius 5 charger on it a Sunday 10AM and it showed battery charged at 2PM TUES. Who knows if it ever had a full charge or not.???

All the cars I've owned since about 2010 have done something similar at one time or another. Has not happened in the Maverick (yet). Seems like some kind of random "reboot". Too bad they can't schedule it to happen when you're not driving!

I used to write software for complex hardware in the data storage business, and that was nightmare enough. No way I'd want to be an automotive software engineer. The "edge cases" are limitless. The physical environment is harsh. The data networks are ancient and bandwidth limited. You're talking with controllers coded by other companies with very little visibility into how they work. And everything you do is watched over by bean counters forcing you to work with the cheapest stuff on the market.

As an outsider who speaks software, I'm astounded these guys ever get anything to work reliably. And I have a lot of respect for them getting it as good as it is. If I had written it, you'd be rebooting the vehicle every trip.
