My Mav is set to be delivered mid January 2022 and was still tossing the thought around if I should invest in the extended warranty from the dealer. I know that they are all crooks but don't know if I should invest in it because its a new model vehicle for 2022. Not sure of how much it would cost or what exactly it would cover. Any thought would be greatly appreciated.

IMO, use the money you would spend on a warranty on scheduled maintenance. Maybe get a warranty if you are terrible about maintaining your vehicle. I bought a new 2005 F150 and had it for 16 years. I did the scheduled maintenance and never had to replace anything but tires and the battery. Same with my 2013 Toyota Prius. Only a battery.

This is a pure gamble. Think about your luck with vehicles and make the choice

I didn't do the warranty, but they offered a like 5 year scheduled maintenance thing for $320 so I took that.

Ford Maverick Is it worth investing in the extended warranty from Ford for 2.0 Eco AWD XL with tow package? imag
They tried to sell me on it. $100.00 deductible and loaner provided. Touch panel goes out, $100.00. 3 things bad in one visit, $100.00. It’s per visit.

when i purchased my 2017 focus ST i did some research before and seen the car a weak transmission and synchro's would go out. so opted for the bumper to bumper 5 star transferable extended for like $2k. Was told by the stealership at the time, if anything goes wrong it will be replaced with this warranty. (dont remember exact price was a few years go now ) i dont drive often and have not needed to use the extended, it expires in 2023. or till 75k miles im only at 32k. Really just depends on your luck on vehicles as mentioned above. I most likely wont be purchasing an extended warranty this time around. Maybe use that money on some extra add ons or something.

It's my understanding that extended warranties are usually very strict about routine maintenance.

Maverick Purchaser,

Look at it as an insurance policy. Ford provides the first few years and then you elect to extend it. For many people it is a peace of mind decision.....

I am normally anti-extended warranty . Never bought one.

But go search this forum for more info. There are a few dealers selling these at rock bottom prices. Once I have my vin, I am grabbing a 100K B2B warranty with a $50 deductible for about $1,200. IMHO, absolutely worth the risk. That's one radio, one electronic component, etc...

I have this note in my calendar, maybe it will help?

Check out floodFordesp.com and zeiglerfordesp.com for extended warranties.

Signed, never bought one before.

If you plan on keeping this vehicle for 8 years and 125,000+ than I think I might consider it. Most newer cars don't have any problems until passing 100K and most of those aren't engine related.

When I think warranty issues I imagine they will be electonics, safety features, alternators, power steering, brakes, transmission.

Almost all of my warranty issues over the years (on my older cars) have been electrical issues and sensors along with some door locks and power windows. With the newer computer systems that worries me. As an example, all of the traction control modes in the car are controlled by a button, computer, and screen. After 5 years I can image it will cost a bit to fix any one of those.

I used to work at a Jaguar repair shop and even on older cars most of the issues were electrical (or fuel related) until cars hit higher mileage (although higher mileage back then was 75K plus :)

Engines themselves are surprisingly tough it's all the little electrical stuff that isn't. I do any repairs I can that aren't a huge pain in the ass. I just replaced power window switches in my wifes car and they cost $80 but the dealer would have charged $400 to fix it. I always measure my time, vs dealer cost, vs how much of a mess it will be :) When it comes to computers and electronics though even if I can do the repair myself the cost of the parts is what kills ya.

I still haven't decided yet but I got a new washer with a electronic control panel the other day and it died after 1 month. Repair guy took care of it under warranty and said the control panel can't be fixed and has to be replaced and it would have been $300+labor if it wasn't under warranty. That with tax would be almost $500 I'm guessing and the washer was only $700 new :)
