I'm looking into the Maverick and I'm wondering if I'll be able to do maintenance the same as on my older gas-only vehicles.
Do you guys have any insight into how easy it is to repair? Can you get to everything easily?

Look for maverick under body and under hood videos on you tube, there are guys who have vids showing oil changes, bumper removal and a few other things. Should give you an idea of how it will go.

The engine compartment is the usual modern mess of wires and hoses, but that said the things you need to get at seem pretty accessible. Oil changes require removal of a skid plate. The fluid fill caps all look pretty accessible to me. The battery should be no problem to swap out. I don't see how brake jobs will be any better or worse than any other car.

The one thing that looks like it will be more of a pain in the ass than it needs to be is how they did the fuses under the hood.

Your question implies you're asking about the Hybrid model.

The Hybrid has a 4-cylinder gas engine that needs oil changes and coolant changes just like non-hybrid vehicles do. However it does not have a separate alternator or starter motor.

The Hybrid has windshield wipers and headlight bulbs you'll need to replace, windshield washer fluid you'll need to add, and brake pads you'll need to replace, too - but less frequently than the brake pads on the EcoBoost Maverick.

Well it won't quite be the same as doing it used to be :) I remember working on my 1977 Chevy truck and putting a foot inside the engine bay for balance while I was working on something. Good luck doing that on a new car.

I had a 78 F150 with a straight 6, I could get into the engine compartment & stand with both feet on the ground to work on it, sure was a back saver.

Depends on what you are comparing it to. For small fwd vehicles, a fair amount of stuff is not exactly easy to get to. That doesn’t mean you can’t do the work or you have to get too extreme like pulling the engine for things you normally wouldn’t or anything.

On newer cars, it’s all the programming, vins tied to parts, etc that are the gotcha. Fords are pretty easy for that as you can use forscan (free) with a $20 cable to do a lot of stuff, full on (hacked) IDS setup for about $100, etc. With those sorts of software tools, all those computers and sensors end up being a good thing more so than just complications as you have far more data at your disposal for troubleshooting and diagnosing then say your typical older car and obd2 reader since most casual owners won’t have fancy $2k pro level scan tools.
