I am at the Ford store waiting for their offer to buy my ‘24 Maverick.

I had a recent cancer diagnosis and I want to get rid of all of my bills since I had to quit working until this chemo/ radiation deal is done in late march.

I paid off my mortgage , cancelled the extended warranty so I get a $1900 refund. I will save over $200/ month by taking the insurance off of the Maverick.

I will be done to two daily drivers my ‘99 Grand Cherokee and my ‘88 F350 crew cab. My ‘65 Dodge Coronet is waiting for the engine and transmission to be installed so I can use that as my DD during the summer.

I drive. 90 mile round trip everyday right now to the cancer center. I still feel ok but I can tell that chemo and radiation is starting, very slowly, to make me sick.

I have cancer in my neck and the back of my tongue. The radiation is going to blast my neck and the chemo works in conjunction with the radiation to kill the DNA in the tumor so it cannot regenerate itself. So it dies and the tumor shrinks.

Anyway the dealer that I bought the car from was at $24k which is exactly the number I told my wife they would offer. Carvana is at $26,200 today.

I guess I will make make one more trip to my local Dodge Garage to see if they want a cactus grey Maverick on there front row!

If not Carvana will own it.

As you know - you’re in for a rough couple months. My ex (on great terms) finished her radiation & chemo back in September. Half way through she said “hey - it’s not too bad”. I thought then…you “jinxed” yourself. Sure thing, the last weeks of treatment was brutal. As were several weeks after as the chemo moved on out. Her tumor shrunk to the point where it can’t be seen - probably gone. Feels much better now!

My older brother had neck cancer at 65yrs as did my mom at that age. Mom lived to 89 - although her taste buds were compromised. Older brother is now 73 and cancer free. He did the chemo/radiation regimen - says he would not wish that on anyone!

Hang in there as it will get worse but then much better whew! 😅

Good evening, @Jalopy Technology

Just letting you know I think many here will be pulling for you during this time.

Things come and go, family and health are the most important.

As stated in earlier post, another Mav or what have you will be waiting for you when you are ready.

Take care and don't be a stranger, the forum may be a good distraction as I used it like that when I needed it a year ago, to help get me through a tough time.

Take care,

Andy

I upgraded to a Lariat from an XLT, got a quote from the dealer then went to Carvana, got a quote for 2k more and the dealer matched it. Going to visit my sister at the hospital tomorrow for her cancer surgery. Rough but it's gonna be OK.
Hoping on the best for you. Keep us informed.
Too bad it's the Mav you have to sell, they're going up in price. But, it sounds like somethings gotta go.
Hang in there and Good Luck!
