In the past, I drove my pickup considerably fewer miles in a year than my car. Not as convenient to drive, and much poorer fuel economy.

Instead, I drive my Maverick more than I expected. It is actually my best fuel economy (the hybrid) for in town driving by about 10 mpg over my sedan. So I tend to alternate, one week sedan, one week Maverick.

You are not alone. Besides fuel efficiency, easy to access, let's face it, they are fun to drive.

I put more miles on my maverick in 2 months than the whole year I had my F-150. I hva been driving mine everywhere now.
I probably drove my F-150 about 3000 miles/year the 10 years I owned it. It is still in use by my friend. Had some engine work but still working at 29 years old.
I'm at about 4600 miles on my Maverick at nearly 10 months.

we've put a lot more on my wife's than expected.

Between her driving our daughter to work every morning now that we live father from downtown  , and a pair of thousand mile round trips for family matters . . .

guess we have to talk to the insurance about it next time.

I didn't drive much either. My Camry, the car I traded for the Maverick, I put an average of 5800 miles a year for the 15 years i owned it. The most I had ever put on a vehicle was 6800 in one year. My first year with the Maverick I put on 11,000 miles. I am over 15,000 and I haven't even owned it for a year and a half yet. So I love driving mine also.

Easy access is one of the main reasons I bought one. With a hip replacement and lumbar fusion surgery on my spine, it was a no-brainer. I slipped on a running board of a taller truck and fell in a parking lot. Luckely no damage was done.

Smart or wise man. I unfortunately had a similar issue. Had one foot on ice the other on running board with hand on door, when taking my foot off the running board to place on the ground down I went on at least two separate occasions, different times through the winter. So similar reason or one of them to buy a Maverick. Tired of climbing in and literally falling out. Also I was tired of parking and maneuvering a tank. It was difficult at best and a pain to open the door far enough to allow exit and entry. Always worrying what the side of my vehicle is going to look like from the vehicle parked next to me.

Watched a video explaining the AWD helping to turn in deep snow before purchase. This is great in a parking lot but actually awesome in the woods or off road. I just was amazed of the ride and how well it takes corners without the excessive body roll characteristics of the full size trucks. I had some railroad tracks I absolutely hated and dreaded going over with my old truck. Yes the noise was still there but I didn't feel the pain, I actually started laughing in joy after going over them with the Maverick.

Best of luck on your Maverick and your health. Best scenario the Maverick helps you to enjoy your retirement.

I asked for the under 7500 mile/year plan, got one where they monitor miles, to save on premiums. Over the long term (absent the Covid year) I probably average 14500 miles/year total.

If I had some old car that is my "fun" car, I probably wouldn't drive it every day and expose it to weather and traffic.
