An FYI.

I just did a maverick oil change in my garage. 5 qts 0w20 Castrol Edge FULL SYNTHETIC and premium STP oil filter for $36 from AutoZone + got a $10 rebate on the way back. Old oil goes back to AZ for recycling. Easy job and you know it's done right (you'll need to add a little more than 5qts to top it off... I had some extra oil so wasn't an issue for me).

In goes a quart of useless additives and that’s one less quart of the proper additives and oil. So basically your running on four quarts of oil not five.

Hoodwinked yes you were. I’d demand a full drain and refill right away.

Most oils have additives already so maybe your dealer has a bare bones oil and they added the additives separately
This, it’s not uncommon for dealerships to use cheap bulk oil to increase profits, rather than using OEM. They can write whatever they want on the service notes.

At my 10,000 mile check I expressly told my dealer not to do the oil change as I did this on a more aggressive schedule. When they were finished I got a bill that included both "oil supplement" and "fuel conditioner" on my bill. I yelled and they reversed the charges. All done without prior authorization so they had no choice. I was disappointed at this attempt to extort additional money from me.

As someone who does their own oil changes.
I'm waiting for shrinkflation to shrink the 5 quart jugs down to four quarts.
Then the oil companies will crow about the new lower price and more convenient handling.
As a matter of fact. I'm getting ready to do my 10,000 mile oil change now. Once I get to 25,000.

2025 Lariat EB, 5000 kms, went for my first oil change at the local dealer.
Just checked the invoice and they added some BG115 along with the oil. looked online and this is some kind of oil treatment.
Is this standard procedure for an oil change?

Not standard. BG115 is an aftermarket oil additive — it is not required by Ford and is not part of a normal oil change. Adding extra treatments isn’t necessary and can actually dilute the oil’s carefully balanced additive package. It’s surprising that the dealer made that decision on their own without asking.

If it were my truck, I’d go back and ask them to redo the oil change and clearly request no additives at all — just a proper service using oil that meets Ford specifications.

Out of curiosity, how much did they charge you for the oil service? It is always good to know what different dealers are charging.

Be well, enjoy the Maverick

So in the mail today, I get something from a local dealer telling me I can get a synthetic blend oil change, oil filter, tire rotation, plus various safety checks for $39.99. Regular price is $99.99. I'm too old to F with it, so maybe I'll see what else they are going to try to sell me.
I paid $65 for full synthetic and a filter last week (and changed in my garage). Not a bad deal there.

Huh? Rotating the tires is still recommended for all Maverick drivetrains. It's right there in the manual.

Back in the day we used to put oil additives in vehicles with much looser tolerances and internals that relied more on additives like Zinc. Also, the oils back then were not what they are today and sometimes needed those additives. Today the tolerances in a modern engine are much tighter and made to the specific manufacturer oil spec which most modern oil already has anti-wear agents, detergents and friction modifiers making additives unneeded and sometimes pretty harmful. That is just my take though
