I only have 1200 miles since the change and the damn light went on. How to turn it off before I smash it with a hammer.

I just got the same message a few days ago. Again, like you, I drove less then 1500 miles since my last full synthetic oil change, in a hybrid (about 40% with the engine off) and I need an oil change! Why are we not going 10K, to 15K, between full syn oil changes? thats what using synthetic oil is all about. Having to change oil every year is bullshit. I've been driving since 1957, and never heard of this being necessary, even with plain oil. Dealers use this to get out of warrantys saying you didn't follow the mainteance procedures.I only have 1200 miles since the change and the damn light went on. I think we don't know all the facts...like was their OLM reset properly at the last oil change? Or maybe it has been a year since the last oil change? If the oil monitor wasn't reset by the last person who did your oil change.
You're directing your anger to the wrong thing, the truck
Patience and actually looking through your manual may help.
If you're posting on this form you access to a manual.
I agree with you, I'll get the oil change, not that I need it, but to protect my warranty. (you can read my reply in an above message) SuzukiridrI think we don't know all the facts...like was their OLM reset properly at the last oil change? Or maybe it has been a year since the last oil change?
We get a warning when a year has passed, to get an oil change. Or when mileage dictates an oil change...
If it has been a year since the last oil change then the complaints could be much-ado about nothing (to me). And yes, I would get an oil change if a year was up, both to refresh the oil AND for warranty purposes.
Those are the 2 scenarios that come to my mind anyways.
Have a good one,
Andy

It's in the instrument cluster menu.Last oil change which was done by dealer which forgot to reset oil change monitor . It was over a year ago so don't remember , but I ended up resetting my self . manuel or utube used to figure out and accomplished . I think it was face east and click heels together 3 times ( no that was to get Dorothy home in the Wizard of oz ) . Something to do with turning ignition on but not starting and a couple of other steps . Can't remember rest off it .

You should change your oil now if your last change was over a year ago - per Ford recommendation.Last oil change which was done by dealer which forgot to reset oil change monitor . It was over a year ago so don't remember
Heh - plenty of oil reports from hybrid owners have been posted to prove there is no water.I've Checked my oil monitor after each oil change.
Ford failed to reset it on my first one.
Valvoline got it on my 2nd.
From previous experience, the minder also comes on based on Time/months since last change.
Time since last can be important, especially if you experience large temp swings through out the year, and humidity. Moisture in the engine is bad.
Esp if you don't bring it up to Temp to evap that moisture regularly.. Like in a Hybrid.
