Another thought I had too... it'd be cool to have a Maverick with a small diesel. If Ford offered one I would seriously consider it.

Hybrid:
2026 Ecoboost 2.0 L Turbo with the EIGHT speed Tranny.

Plug in,
Drive battery FOUR times larger capacity than the current 1.1

Eliminate the 12 volt AGM !
Come on ford ! A voltage regulator can handle ALL of the 12 VDC stuff !

Give us back intuitive buttons we don’t fave to look down away from traffic to operate.
The 2.0L hybrid I could get behind, but the 8-speed? You are throwing away the best part of the hybrid. I went out of my way to not buy the F-150 hybrid because it’s married to a 10r80 for some bizarre reason I cannot fathom.

For a plugin, I’d want a bit more, actually, something on the order of 16-20 KWh.

The 12v would never be eliminated because having the HV circuit hot at all times is a recipe for trouble, and we do like our keyless entry…

Agree on the buttons.

Now, as for what I would wish? V8 Hybrid, with the same 2.5L displacement

Am I really the only one who would look for a Coyote driven AWD/4WD option?

Auto-dimming rear view and side mirrors, glove box light. Standard. I have added all three ( anti-glare tint for side mirrors) but it cost me a ridiculous amount of time and money.

My 23 Lariat Lux with the upgraded 12" I have added plus better interior plastics, ventilated seats, rear defrost (yes, they fog up), no interior rattles, AWD, HomeLink with a bigger mirror, BlueCruise.

I don't think You could fit the Coyote in the Mavericks engine bay IIRC they're wider than a 429-460 BBF like I have in My Mustang. IMO the 2.7 Eco Boost would be great for the Maverick since they dropped the Edge that had the 2.7 Eco Boost in the Sport and ST versions and the 2.7 Eco Boost is a 60 degree V-6 IIRC and is pretty narrow.

What would be the benefit of the V8 besides a little smoother?

Wouldn’t that Coyote simply bend our unibody truck and total it ?

Heat the cabin quicker
Well, yeah. But that's the price of efficiency. Since I got the hybrid I've been dressing a lot warmer in the winter. The electric seats are not an option.

With the will and budget, ANYTHING can happen.
My dad and I put an old school 5.0L in a 1974 Mazda RX4. Fun fact: the Wankel engine that came out was 50 lbs heavier than the V8 that went in.

Some things I would love to see on a future Maverick:
  1. Heated back window pane
  2. Auto-folding mirrors
  3. 60/40 rear bench split (or similar)
  4. Multi-tailgate
  5. A Maverick 'Raptor'
  6. A BEV Maverick
  7. Vented Seats
  8. Ability to upgrade infotainment/speakers on XLT trim
