If I primarily wanted a people hauler that could haul a load in a pinch a after removing seats, id pick an AWD minivan.
Not gonna match the towing & hauling of Maverick but its the closest a people hauler will get for mpg & ride quality.

I think the only hybrid & AWD minivan is Chrysler Pacifica though.

If you had 1 of each you would have about the most versatile for the cost vehicle capabilities mix for anything less that hotshot hauling & towing.

I agree, it's not comfortable. Slightly worse than the straight up drivers seat in a two-door single cab pickup truck.

I'm not trying to make any kind of point. I'm just curious to poll the community and see how many have had people (not stuff) in the back seat. The question isn't whether you want a four door, four seat truck. For instance, I put stuff back there all the time. The question is very specific. Have you driven with people back there.

Edit by OP. After 300+ votes, I really learned something. LOTS of people do use the back seats. This really educated me, which is why I made the poll. I guess the Ford product planners knew what they were doing when they made it a four door.
at least twice a week from September to May, I'm the DD for our team on bowling league nights.

I'm a little disappointed that no one who chose the third option ("I decline to answer on the grounds that I might incriminate myself") has provided a detailed explanation. Inquiring minds want to know. Law enforcement/the IRS/ your wife only monitor this forum occasionally.

I have and I have asked if they were comfortable because my 97 Explorer and 05 Escape backseats were not very comfortable. I've had good reviews. It is a Lariat with leather seats - that helps. My oldest Stepdaughter is a fairly large woman and was comfortable when she rode in backseat and the front.

Rear seats are only occupied about 12% of the time with an average of 1.5 people per vehicle.

remove ride share and taxi like services and those numbers drop further.

So people may use the rear seats but it’s almost always the same people using rear seats and for everyone else they rarely are used (couple times a year)

That said things I don’t want rolling around potentially in the elements can go as cargo in the rear seats, and I have attempted unsuccessfully to make the dog use the rear seats but obviously a bench seat or 2 doors is likely good enough 99% of the time for 88% of the people

That should aso educate all the the 2-seater advocates who keep on insisting there is a strong demand for such a configuration.

This seems like such an odd question that has to have some kind of agenda despite your claims otherwise.

But The answer for me YES, literally every day. We have two teenagers and they can't ride in the truck bed :D

And it's not uncommon to have the back seat full with three kids when they bring a friend along somewhere. Just last weekend I took my one daughter and three of her friends to dinner and the mall. They fit just fine.
He just wanted to follow up the usual trope insisting there is demand for a 2-seater version.

backs up the fact that there really isn't a large enough market for a two door standard cab pickup truck. Looking at the global market, it's the same as here. Four doors are preferred.
Makes me wonder if Slate will have a market outside of the, 'Hey, it's cheap.' Is there any adjustment to the drivers seat back of the Slate?
How soon before Slate becomes a 4 door?

The 93 Year Old Neighbor lady rode in the Back Seat Today for the 2nd time and had no complaints. 30 Minute drive each way the 1st time but only a 10 minute ride each way Today.

Cybertruck and F-150 Lightning seemed to have flopped but Slate should do ok in the commercial space at least and there's that 15% that may want 2 door based on this survey. I'm sure Amazon affiliates will end up buying them back if they don't sell. I'd like to see Slate go to market but I'm not holding my breath.

Let's say 2-3 years after they go to market, Slate is a 4 door. However, nothing can touch the 4 door Maverick, IMO.

I don't know what you mean by Amazon affiliates? Open bed Delivery trucks?

Three total, one in the back, once or twice a week, is pretty common. One time only, I did have 4 adults and a 17 year old in my Maverick. I cannot confirm nor deny that all rear passengers were buckled in, and how comfortable it was (or wasn't) hehe

Yes, but not often. Like others, the centre seatbelt error popped up so I have my guests buckle the centre seatbelt to allow me to clear it. Most of the time it's used for the dogs. I rarely have to remove the protector.

One of my dogs barely fits in my F250 …much less the Maverick, but you tell him he’s not going for taco runs. 😝😝😝
