Yes.
Took my wife's sister and her husband out to dinner while they were in town.

Please note. While passengers can sit in the rear seat, we all know its main function is to have somewhere to put our "stuff" so the front doesn't get cluttered.

yeah, my back seat has been used for passengers on occasion, but it's main use is to be lockable dry storage. It also serves as my changing room after races. Nothing better than putting on some clean, dry underwear after racing dirt bikes in the summer heat for two hours.

We've had adult passengers in the back seat on occasion, though usually it's just going out to dinner or something like that.

However, the main "purpose" of the rear seat for us is that it's large enough to hold a dog crate to securely house our two small dogs that travel with us frequently.

im not sure what "be honest" is supposed to mean ? at 5'11' i could easily fit in the front and in the back. grandkids fit in easy, and obviously have 4 doors, so easy in and out
would i want to take along road trip in the backseat ? no. then again, i don't want to take a long road trip in the backseat of anything ! maybe a sienna, maybe

The "be honest" is what made it clear he does have an agenda with this post. He's basically saying he doesn't believe the people who say that they do frequently utilize the backseat for passengers.

I have a dog hammock in the back seat 99% of the time. I can throw anything back there, including my hiking gear and the dogs. It's incredibly useful to have an easily accessible, out of the weather space for hauling soft goods.

About 1% of the time I have actual people back there, but when I do it's because I really need to. I would be stuck if I couldn't do that.

The new trucks are man station wagons. Probably up to 50% or more don't ever go offroad or use the truck as intended. A status symbol....... the PLATINUM. LMAO! I had a 10" lift with huge tires in my 20s. I was the man! It barely stopped. I did offroad. Some park taking two spaces so they don't get door dings. Have you noticed that some, when taking a left turn, swing out to the right slightly, like they are driving a Semi. Whu Woa!

That's a very good point & valid comparison.

Thinking out loud, Im pretty sure the reason no front bench seats is airbag frontal crash regs - automakers would be required to have an airbag behind the center console (noone i know of has figured out how to make a center console soft enough to blow out safely)
GM offered the last of the B-body sedans and wagons (1991-1996) with bench seats and an airbag that would cover the center position. They were quite proud of it and described it in their old school paper brochures for the model. I was only a teen but had much lust for the short lived "bubble" version of the Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser that preceded the Buick Roadmaster. I would have 350V8 and tow package.

My wife has a 2023 Yukon SLE (5.3 V8 4x4) and ordered it with the front bench seat which included having airbags for all 3 front seat positions. Hilariously GM would give you a $250 CREDIT for ordering the front bench. In 2025 GMC eliminated the SLE trim level and with it the bench option. I think you can still get a bench in the SSV version.

It appears that manufacturers create an EXTRA WIDE airbag that pops from the passenger side to cover 2 positions instead of one.

I drove from eastern Ohio to South Dakota with 3 other adults for a hunting trip October of 2024 in my 2022 hybrid . Am 6 foot tall and road in the back seat for several legs of the trip. Not the most roomy but we all did fine. I may do the trip again in 2026 and am not worried about taking this truck. It worked great for that trip and my gas mileage was very good, the second vehicle in this trip also with 4 passengers was a full size Chevy crew duramax. They had more room but needed nearly triple in fuel costs. Overall a great little truck that does it all. The 2025 Maverick is an awd hybrid so some of the of road I will feel more confident.

Yes, although not more than a dozen times in the 14 months I have owned it. At least this vehicle is stable and rides normal with 4 people in it, which is more than I could say about my Prius C. I have also noticed that for whatever reason, multiple people have struggled with the rear seatbelt, to which I have to respond while trying to not sound condescending "it's a normal seatbelt".

If I was buying a half ton truck, I would just get one of the F-150's with an extended cab though, probably the STX. Seems like there is still plenty of space for rear passengers that are not NFL or volleyball players, for the occasional trip anyway.

If F-150s weren't so expensive I'd have an extended cab model, clamshell doors are the way I wish every full size truck maker approached the problem.

You can still get an STX 4x4 extended cab under well under $40K, which is reasonable compared to other trucks, and for how capable and jammed with features even that model is.
