If it's high enough to suck water into the Air Intake and into Your engine the engine could hydro lock and bye bye engine!!
Factory airboxes sometimes have a trap door of sorts so that if water is covering the lower part of the intake, then the trap door opens so that air can enter through there. I've only seen this on vehicles that have the intake really low though. My F-150's intake pulls from the driver's side front fenderwell and it's just straight into the filter.

Wondering about water and the battery……
Thank you….
If the water level is below the wheel hubs, I'd say you're okay. But a foot is probably gonna partially submerge the HV battery and a lot of chassis wiring.

Might want to consider getting something with a raised ride height since this is a somewhat regular occurrence for you. F-250s were (or maybe still are) available with a deep water fording option (up to 30" if I recall), but I'd say another F-150 or a Ranger aught to be sufficient.

Heavy rain other day I drive through exit of parking lot at my gym Its about 6 inch deep. I go real SLOW , BUT a foot is double that. That is pushing it BUT if you do go slow .
sometimes you don't see the effects of water damage for months or years, I had a dodge Dakota it was 5 years old with 8k on it, weekend use only, I drove through water a few times maybe 6/8" I ruined that truck, everything rusted, Muffler, brake lines, rockers, etc.
The maverick has harness tied to the floor and a muffler that is made of crap, my 22 XLT
the muffler had rust on it the day I picked it up new, theres no undercoating on the floor or rails, don't drive through any water if it can be avoided, especially salt water.

I'm looking for a periscope for my Maverick,... 🤣
I put a snorkel on my jeep and waterproofed the ignition before traversing a flood. It was scary as HELL but the sound through the snorkel was cool. It was a dumb idea, but I got lucky.

My previous truck was a F150 ( 2 wheel drive) and I had no issues going down a road with a foot of water. Has anyone had experience driving through water with the hybrid? Wondering about water and the battery……
Thank you….
Older post I know, but it doesn't seem like this was ever directly answered. The Ford manual states to keep the water line below the center cap on the wheels ("below the wheel hub"), and that the PTU may need serviced if submerged in water. The hybrid battery should be well sealed from water intrusion as it will live its life getting sprayed and splashed with water from wet roads and puddles. The cells themselves should be water-tight even if there were water intrusion into the battery housing.

Never a good idea of driving through a flooded area....1 foot of water can hide road damage that can strand you in an instant....but the good news is, you'll get to see yourself on the local news and maybe even a national news program.
Hmmmm, this is something to think about. I'm thinking about moving to Missouri where I regularly do fords and small creeks in the Ozarks. The Mav might not like that.

Some 3 decades back I lived near a ford and used to go through it a couple of times in spring to get the salt off. Think it actually helped for underbody rust.

No. Like crossing a creek or small river without a bridge. You just drive through it.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_(crossing)
First time I used a ford to cross a stream was in Yorkshire, England. Using an unpaved single lane road and came to the ford. It had a post with water level measurements on it to determine if it was too deep ( storm surge etc). Driving a KIA Sportage so had a bit more clearance.

I guess it beats driving a Chevy to the levee only to find out that the levee was dry....

That happened to a friend of mine.
Went into a deep puddle when a storm drain got plugged and his Chevy did just that.
Sucked water into the air intake and it killed the engine. Truck was totaled by insurance.

Arizona has a law where they can ticket people for driving through flooded roads. I'm pretty sure it's called the stupid law.
The law is called the 'Stupid Motorist Law".
It applies when a driver goes around barricades or road closed signs when the road is flooded.
If the driver gets stuck, they get to pay for the rescue effort, typically ~ $2,000 + towing.
