Double edge sword here.

Extreme heat=server duty
5,000 mile intervals especially in the turbo Ecoboost with full synthetic.

The Hybrid. More starts with the engine below optimal operating temperature.
Much higher rpm’s at times.
Yeah I’d do 5,000 mile intervals and full synthetic here also.
Absolutely no reason to think the hybrids run with "much higher rpm's".

I'll bet quite a lot of money the opposite is true. I have a data logger. Driving normally with the normal flow of traffic, 50/50 city / highway in a one hour trip speeds zero to 70 mph....

MY HYBRID NEVER GOES ABOVE 2400 rpm.

What does your Ecoboost hit daily?

Here was one of my more vigorous drives.

The Motor Oil Geek did a YouTube video of a lecture he gave to dozens of oil analysis professionals. At one point he asked for a show of hands of folks who’ve performed one on their personal vehicle. One hand went up:)

Although maybe it would be like admitting that you stole something from work?
Data is data.
They saw all the data.

They know 15,000 mile OCI is safe and effective for 99% of drivers in 99% of vehicles.

Funny how 50% of the population thinks they are in the 1%.

Human nature.

Yep, like Cherokee & the oil folks pros said - oil analysis on your personal vehicle is unnecessary if you maintain it properly.

Although I am going to do a first in a lifetime oil analysis on any vehicle soon. There is a TSB on my EB Mav build date for oil dilution & my oil cap smells very gassy. So I want to have data before/if I bring my truck in for service. One of your posts on oil analysis (that I originally mocked) inspired me to get one done:)

I hear ya, on one of my two hybrid test drives I got on it like one would merging onto the Superslab.
That 2.5 reved way the hell up and just held there. I did not like that.
It waited till the speed was up then the rpm’s fell. No thank you. I’ll stick with the so called clunky 8 speed that keeps a closer hold on my engine rpm’s.

The one single thing that first turned this old fart away from the Hybrid was the tranny.
To each his own.

I have a question please what is a good recommended number of miles before oil change. Currently I am at 6000 miles and it says 46% oil life in the app. I have flat towed it an addition 3000 miles

Most people will say to change the first oil that came from the factory early. Basically NOW in your case.

Then every 10,000 miles or 1 year if you tend to be a gentle driver.

The oil life monitor tends to be very accurate, in the hybrids at least.

Does the Hybrid use a different algorithm than the EB to figure the OLM % I wonder?

Engine hours differ given the same mileage number. 12months is still 12months for both engines though.

I last changed my oil 3.5 months ago and have driven only about 600 miles since. My OLM shows 71% - definitely using time instead of mileage.

Perhaps down oil sample to ascertain state if the oil, whether if can go further on it.

In my case I chose to drive it for ~700 miles, pull sample. Analysis came ack ok, so drovetill 15xx miles, then did oil change with blended variety. Drive with that, and at next change, switched to full synthetic.

Probably close enough or the same I'd bet.

ICE time on is tracked, idle ICE time is tracked, temps, load%, miles if actually used beyond some max figure, time for some max figure of course.

I've seen the posts now for both systems, not sure I recall an EB owner going to the almost end of OLM% and giving their mileage, but probably missed it.
Seen the hybrid OLM% aiming for over 10K, and much shorter if driven harder.

But with the OLM% doing some funkiness where it seems to wait until it actually starts showing a decent estimate - it's hard to know unless someone really does take it down to 10%.

Mine had to reach below 30% to get out off this 2nd year's simple estimates of 50%-5000 miles remaining, 43%-4300 miles, ect. Last fillup finally read 28%-2100 miles left. That would give me 11,300 total.
Whereas the 1st year the % was clearing aiming for 10K, until below 50% it's aim was 1 yr. The app actually gave a date then, doesn't now.

Your 25MY dash tells you exactly how many electric miles out of that 6000.
What is that figure?

The app also says how many miles remaining.
What is that figure?
