I thought the replacement axles corrected the design fault in the originals. If so I don't think you have any case. Even if you replaced the axles like-for-like, I still don't think you have a case. Ford has a programme in place to replace the original axles should they fail.
But there wasn't a program YET when I did the repair and there was no evidence at the time that the faulty parts had been upgraded in any way. The only parts that I knew were better quality than the original defective parts were the Tremor parts
Yes, it would definitely be in their best interest. I have 4 kids and the Maverick really is the ideal vehicle for someone going off to college and moving out of the house. I was so excited when I found out they are finally making an AWD hybrid which was going to be my next purchase for the next child before he goes to college.
As far as we know only the axles for the hybrid have been redesigned. We have yet to see any evidence that the axles for the non-Tremor EB have changed since 2022.
That is a horse of a different color - the warranty work is specific, it must be conducted by Ford or one of their agents (dealers).
Seriously? Because they won't refund you money on parts that are not specified for your truck? You rolled the dice on a upgrade based on what you have read on line to correct your issue instead of having Ford repair the vehicle to OE specs (which is their obligation) and now you want to throw the entire company out for it? Good luck down at Toyota....I am sure they'll give you top dollar for your trade in..
Contact Ford directly. I believe they offer reimbursement even if it was done at an independent shop. I need to read the information in detail in order to be certain though
If the CV joints are bad enough (especially the inner) , a skilled mechanic can often detect a faulty CV joint on a lift with the wheels suspended, in fact, it's often easier because the joints will sometimes vibrate worse when they are at an angle. As for your extended warranty, it's good for peace of mind JUST IN CASE. But the odds are that you'll NEVER need enough repairs to exceed what you paid for it, it's basically insurance. And they've determined that the vast majority of people won't need to use it or will only use it for minor repairs that nowhere near cost what they charged. That's how they make money, But if you're part of that small group that actually uses it for a major repair, you'll be glad you got it. If not THEY'LL be glad you got it
You know you caused the problem by replacing the original part, with a different part number which is not mentioned in the recall. The dealer will not be covered by Ford for the cost of the part, and labor to cover your upgrade. You may have better axels on your truck now then the recall would have given you.
I owned an Escape before this....one of my cheaper run arounds just like the Maverick is. The Escape had driveshaft issues which appeared to cause a slight but permanent tranny vibration at certain speeds...not to mention that their PTUs were prone to failure at low mileage from exhaust heat. The Maverick uses a lot of the same components that the Escape used. Even though Ford implied they redesigned and fixed all the issues I have doubts to that claim after looking over both vehicles from underneath. I don't see many improvements. The fact that the Mav driveshafts already went out at 32K leads me to believe this Maverick will have a serious drive train issue before my ext warranty runs out.
