Any recommendations for a shark-fin antenna?

I want to use a cover and don't want to have to remove and replace the antenna every time.
My concern is that the antenna won't have the same base size as the factory antenna and there will be marks on the roof.
I'm hoping it's new enough (bought in January 2025) that there won't be an issue, but I want to make sure before I do anything.
I'm also concerned about how the new antenna will seal against the roof.
My friend has a truck with a shark-fin and his reception seem fine. That was a concern from things I had read, but I'm comfortable with that now.
I had an audio shop mention a hidden power antenna. I know nothing about them.
Any suggestions and thoughts are appreciated.

I purchased on Amazon the Craven Speed Stubby jr. 20$. It’s a simple screw-in with a low profile. Clean looking. Tiny. As to reception - satellite radio is A+ and local am/fm is fine too.

I tried a stubby and it got horrible reception. Only two of my stations came in.
I was hoping that would work because it would have been SO easy.

Good input! I rarely (never) use my radio - which is what the whip antenna is for. And the fin is for Ford App / AT&T - which I don’t use either.

My review is kind of useless unless you’re just going for “looks”. Pretty boy me

I appreciate the stubby suggestions, but I had horrible results with the one I tried. Maybe some stubbies are better than others, but it also might be the area I live in. My friend has a shark fin on the GMC Colorado and it works beautifully, so I'm leaning in that direction.

The AM/FM signal is strictly through the screw-on antenna. The sharkfin on the Maverick is for GPS/satellite radio (if equipped).

The stubby noticeably affected my reception in the Seattle area for HD radio. It's the only Maverick accessory I have ever returned in my 4 years of owning this vehicle.

Yeah....like BGN said.....technically you already have a "Sharkfin" I was kinda confused by the title on what you are looking for. Then I see the Stubby posts....so maybe that was it. FYI....I have the Cravenspeed Stubby JR. also and it works perfect!! Don't get a different brand. Stay with what works on this forum.

this would be your best bet to get rid of the taller antenna. The antenna base is like a shark fin to begin with.

An Option to consider:
Cut a hole in the cover for the antenna and put a foam pipe cover over it, on top of the cover.

Most folks who fly small aircraft have at least one, if not two or three antennas on the plane. The covers used have holes or slits in them to fit around the antennas. Aircraft are crazy expensive and owners care for them meticulously. The antenna holes in the cover don’t present any major problems and the aircraft is still well protected, especially if a piece of foam is helping seal the slot from the top.

Sorry but I have no advice about a shark fin antenna replacement, my friend.

I have the standard screw on antenna.
Lots of people are talking about the stubby, but I tried one and it failed miserably.
Someone mentioned cutting a hole. I figure that will weaken the integrity of the cover and allow water to get in.
I was hoping someone had a true shark fin that worked well, but it's not looking good.
