All the early Ford Motor Company produced video clips show the Maverick with a "Toy Car/ Mast" Roof Antenna ... if you look at the unit on the video below it seems to have now (later production units?) switched to a "Shark Fin" Antenna ... what do you think? What would you prefer?

Maybe someone just unscrewed the antenna and forgot to put it back on?

That's a sharkfin. I don't see a way to otherwise attach a mast in the image.

But anything pre-production is always subject to change. I hope that's the case with the center console because in that video, the latch hole is mediocre (look at the black felt/tape where the latch hook clips in - its not aligned, and looks hideous. Also, why not have a tray in there? Hmm.)

It's a regular ol' antenna, the mast is missing, probably in the glove box for transit

There is no place to screw it from what I can see.

If you look at the pic you can see the silver bolt that takes the threaded end

Thanks! Yeah they make those stubby antennas that you can get for them.

My antenna was in the bag that contained the carpeted mats. If anyone is wondering why you have bad radio reception, look for the antenna mast that screws into the shark fin.

Swap for a stubby looks way better.

I'm not saying you will have issues but the longer antenna is almost certainly more gain for people that actually listen to radio in more rural areas. That little stubby is likely fine for more urban/suburban areas or if you don't actually use your AM/FM radio.
