Was just thinking about something like this for a roof rack application. That long antenna will get in the way of a lot of stuff. How's the reception with the stubby?

Here's the stubby that's officially for the Mav. This one is 4" long. Anyone know how long the stock antenna is? Curious if it's worth the upgrade.

Here's the one I ordered - direct fit, only 2" and noticed no difference in reception. The longer one is now in the glove box if ever needed in some remote location but much cleaner for everyday driving.
Anyone having this issue with the base of the antenna not sitting flush with the roof? We have only hand washed our Maverick Lariat and encouraged our son to get one as well a year later from the same dealership, Fair Oaks Ford in Naperville, IL. He noticed the base of his antenna was not sitting flush on the roof, we looked at ours and noticed the same. We all handwash our Mav's so there should not have been anything to cause it to shift out of place. The only thing we have in common is that we had our vehicles get oil changes at the dealership and they washed our vehicles in their car wash. I think the adhesive was not strong enough to withstand the car wash and shoved it backwards a bit. Anyway, Ford does not consider this to be something covered under their warranty, even though we did not cause the damage. I read on the forum that the fix is easy, but it should be something easily addressed in the service department. They also said there was a dent in roof where it was moved and there is no such dent or mark. Camera's don't lie, it's just the adhesive is not making contact with the roof.
