The good old days weren't quite as good as we like to remember. The fast cars of the 60's are only moderately fast by today's standards.

Also, there are a lot of fakes out there. GTOs that are just LeMans pretending to be a GTO and the like.

Edit: you know times are tough when youngish gold diggers settle for the geezer Maverick owner! LOL

I stated driving at 16 around 1967, if you had a car/truck with 250hp you were badass.
BTW I also had one of those leMans with GTO emblems, I metal flaked it, used to dive around without air cleaner because it sounded cool till it backfired and caught fire, still remember the flake melting dripping off the car as it burned. Funny things you remember.

Exactly..Have to dust off the ole timing light...But carb adjustment with a long necked flathead screwdriver...Points, plugs, condenser, distributor....actually pulling out a gap tool I still have..Yeah, this gonna be fun...

Turbo Hydro was a Turbo 350 or 400 Automatic not a 4 speed?

Prior owner provided upgrade information.
I can tell you that it would spin the tires in all 4 forward gears. Reverse too.
I could pass everything but a gas station.

I didn't build the performance mods and sold the car 53 years ago.
I did just verify that BW in that era produced 4 speed automatics, and my '57 had one.
More information than that is unavailable.

100% agreed...I was going to remove it, paint it to match the color, then see if that does anything but yeah, I don't like it either..I also don't like the chrome edging around the sude scoops as well as the rear spoiler...

I like "clean" cars too!

Yup, I still have timing light, tach and dwell combo meter, vacuum guage. All of it getting quite dusty. Today you need laptop with correct software and OBD connection and plastic panel tools, clamp meter.

Remember watching NHRA and NASCAR years ago, John Force, Richard Petty etc, tuned vehicle the only way they knew how. Now everything is computer and horse power and time in 1/4 mile is unreal! Ashley Force, 334 mph in 1/4 mile! When I was a kid watching drags in Spokane Wa, I was impressed seeing Force and folks hit 250mph. Sorry for ranting people.

First vehicle was 160 CB honda . Fast for what it was but PIA to start . 90 mph on freeway with 2 up . 16 years old and rode in snow in Cleveland Ohio. Good old cold days. Live in Florida now and still riding motorcycles but not in snow .

Ashley Force, 334 mph in 1/4 mile! When I was a kid watching drags in Spokane Wa, I was impressed seeing Force and folks hit 250mph. Sorry for ranting people.

Imagine the "G" force on 300 plus in 1/4 mile! I read somewhere years ago it was higher than what the astronauts experience on a launch! At some point they may have to wear pressurized suits like fighter pilots. Crazy.

The Shuttle launch looks so slow, even tho it isn’t cause it’s so big. Then you see a top fuel car on only 1/4 mile and it just looks so much faster! Eyes deceive!

It's not even a quarter mile for Top Fuel or Funny Cars now, is it? I remember them shortening it to 1000 feet instead of 1320 for those classes several years ago because the cars were too fast.
