Front license plate no longer required in Idaho

Idaho members may like this. Did not realize this was signed into law in July. I have my plate mounted, of course, too late for me. I may remove and fill the holes in somehow. If any vehicle has a FACTORY MOUNTED bracket, the plates must be displayed on the front. If bracket was in the back seat (like mine was), plate on front not required. Senate bill, 1180. Lived in ID for awhile several years ago, and when I brought a car out from PA, got pulled over and asked by a cop where my front plate was. After I said PA doesn't use them, he said, "We'll see." Obviously on a power trip.

My 24 maverick has the front plate. It was put on before the law was changed. It may "accidentally" fall off. My Mustang on the other hand is a rebel and has never had a front plate.

Utah completely removed any requirement for a front license plate. They now only issue a rear license plate.

It was not too much of a stretch that it was determined by the state that it would save 1/2 the cost of producing license plates by producing just one plate versus two.

If I remember correctly MA eliminated or thought about eliminating the front plate till the powerful police unions bitch enough that we have 2 plates. Buddy just puts his on for his annual inspection, other than that, it is in the back of the SUV. To the best of my knowledge he has been only stopped once by a rookie cop.

MA also did not allow the heavier tinted windows, with some exceptions... one being police vehicles. If I can't they shouldn't be able to either. Grrrrr.

Would love to see Oregon adopt a similar policy. It seems pretty common sense. I bought my truck in Idaho but they drilled that god awful bracket onto the front of the truck at the dealership. I removed the bracket and plugged the holes with these plastic plugs I got at Ace Hardware for like 20 cents a piece. I've been running no front plate for the last 6-months or so and have had no issues with police.
