Not on my truck it aint. Haven't run a front plate in Texas in a decade, never an issue. Got one warning, and I think cop was just bored or lonely. Hard part is finding a dealer that doesn't immediately have a kid drill a couple uneven holes in the bumper as soon as the vehicle arrives as part of their prep, in order to put on their dealership advertisements.

I told granger I do NOT want the plate frame installed. No holes in the bumper. Pitch it in the back seat. Going to make a floating mount that mounts from under the bumper like I did on my 07 mustang GT. They told me on out of state vehicles purchased they do not mount the plate frame.

I was lucky enough to to call and email my salesperson to tell them, do not put on the front license plate. He is an excellent listener. I came to pick up my truck, and guess what I immediately saw. The front license plate mounted.

I was in such a good mood to get my truck, I didn’t want to ruin the day.

I told me dealer do not mount the front plate frame when the truck comes in. They left it in the back seat. I mounted the rear plate, stuffed the front plate between the seat and console. Not gonna mount it until DPS finest stops me and tells me to.

My understanding is when you order your truck you have to ask for a front license plate attachment for the front. It’s no charge. I live in South Carolina and we don’t have front plates so the dealer didn’t put it on the order.

What do you think of this? I have been looking everywhere for an under carriage assembly that won’t block airflow. Moving to a one plate state and don’t want drill holes in bumper.

When I lived in Houston, I bought a M3 and the dealer said no one mounts the front plate and the cops don't enforce it. Then one day driving to lunch from work on Allen Parkway, there's a cop standing in front of another M3 pulled over, pointing at the missing front plate, I say to my passenger, no way he's pulling him over for that, and just that moment he looks up, sees my car and waves me over. Yes, got a ticket for that and nothing else.

My lesson? I don't care about drilling holes in the bumper or the minor perceived aesthetic of no front plate. What I do care about is NEVER giving a cop a reason to pull me over. The front plates have gone on ever since. They don't bother me one bit.
