As far as the door speaker debate, Colin is spot-on. The front door speakers are ridiculously light Fisher-Price toys that may sound passable at low/medium-low volume, but they are propped up quite a bit by Ford's artificial EQ programming. The "magnets" (such as they are) are the bare minimum to make sound. I got a lot of joy tossing those things in the trash.
everyone with B&O should do this simple back-to-back test:
Money for Nothing, max volume. (yes, the stock speakers can handle it, as long as you have the bass set to level or minus 1 or 2.)

now replace the 6.5s and try it again.

if you've already made the swap, or you have non B&O but have an amp, try it anyway. (maybe not max volume if you are using something other than B&O factory amp. use your judgment.)

at any rate, it will 100% demonstrate the midbass region where the factory 6.5s are weak.

Don't know if you got around to adding the sound mat yet, but I was just going to comment that I found it was an INCREDIBLE bang-for-the-buck and a huge improvement. Even if I was going to leave the OEM stereo system stock, I would recommend adding sound deadening. It's just one of those things that is enough trouble, of course you might as well replace speakers while you're in there lol.

I added Canopus 50 mil product to all the rear trim panels, cab body, front doors, and dash A-pillar trim last month when I redid my speakers. I didn't pull any trim that wasn't required for the speaker replacement, but there still a few areas left I can do that are easy to get to.

Did that reduce road noise at all? The Lariat is already pretty quiet, but that sounds pretty good if it's a "2 in 1" (reduce road noise + improve sound) mod ...

let's see if this works... if not.. I'll host them on my website. Also got truck back from shop. 1.5" drop on top of factory. happy.
What kit for 1.5" drop?
I sorta want springs, but don't want the drop...maybe .5" on the front, Max. The rear could be dropped a bit more, but I need clearance on the front.

The ride height looks great form a side profile now. esp the rear.

Looks are partial to the observer, and I do like the unique turbofans, but I want a light wheel...And likely in Bronze, and wider.

What wheels and size are you running?

Silvers Coil Over kit with upgraded springs. It's technically a 2/3 drop. Lobo already dropped from factory.5 inches up front, 1.12 inches in rear. I basically went 1.5" lower in the front, and 2.0 in the rear.

my assanti rims are 20"x8" wide rims and tires are about the same weight if not less than the stock 19"x7". running nitto 245/45s. rims have a 40 degree offset. zero rubbing at full lock. tires stay just barely under fender. 38 degree offset may have been better but may have rubbed at full lock.

I'm not saying after markets are the same as factory. I agree with what you're saying. At the moment and for what I listen to? They fine. But I know I'll blow them. I always do eventually. lol.

Hard for me to qualify all the noise that was reduced, but in as much as the tires and suspension transmit noise into the unibody, that is surely taken down a notch or two.

My approach was to dampen resonance and vibration as opposed to making a full "barrier" - so I put it where reasonable on the metal body panels, as well as the inside of the plastic trim panels - and it has clearly helped stop things from transmitting/exacerbating any vibration that is put into them from the road, wind, stereo, etc.

I'm not positive on what additional measures the Lariats have beyond the fancy windshield and maybe the front fender foamies, but a lot of the OEM countermeasures I saw in my XLT were nothing more than quilted "pillows" in a few places. They are not serving quite the same purpose.

This was after tint. basically the day after I bought it and today. Man. those factory rims were ugly and stupid.

Might consider caliper covers now. I had no idea the disc brakes were so big. I'm keeping my turbo fan dinner plate rims. I like different. Great job all around BTW 👏

The only sounds that come out of my speakers are Siri (with the British Accent) giving me directions and the artificially generated engine sound:)

I have quite an extensive collection of cassettes, CDs, and vinyl - but my listening days are behind me.

I understand my fake engine noise is generated by the sub woofer - not completely sure though. Wouldn’t mind cranking that up a bit. 11?

I'm not saying it's not there.. but I hear zero fake muffler noise through my setup and if I did my subs would be slamming from it. If anything? all I ever hear is the blow off value from my motor when my windows are down. it's possible in the lobos it's turned down or something. I'm absolutely planning on going down the forescan route because I'd like to disable auto engine shutoff.

It's possible the noise only plays in "LOBO" mode. If you get into Forscan, you can turn it on/off. Not sure about its volume level.

Another thing you can do in Forscan is set the Ford EQ to "flat" so your audio equipment is starting with a clean slate as far as signal.

as for road noise? I've taken some of this apart already when I did my sub box. there isn't much in terms of factory deadening. but with my own past experience with a few of my own vehicles. doing 2nd skin on doors, roof, floor, followed up with 1/2" closed cell foam will make a huge difference. but it becomes a trade off. that's usually an extra 75 pounds of weight. gas mileage important to me with this ride. more so coming from a giant full size. everyone's expectations and requirements are different when it comes to deadening, how much and what kind.

been rolling around in lobo mode. no fake noise either. my equipment is an lc2i tapped off factory sub. I'd probably mess w the eq setting of the sub. I'd really only care if I had giant plans of swapping it all out with with a 4 channel amp, some components, bigger subs and bigger sub amps. I don't. Love my ride, but it's basically done.

Do you hear any engine noise when accelerating from a stoplight? Or especially any noise when giving it the beans? Fake & I want to turn it up a bit if I could!

Many different tastes & opinions here in this forum:)
