Makes sense for the mpg. But now worried about how enthusiastic my gf (soon to be fiance if all goes well) has been about my mav. I think im being buttered up for agreeing to whatever she wants for possible kids.
No kids, get a dog instead. Less of a headache and no support payments if everything goes south when the honeymoon is over.

My wife laughed the day I drove mine home. Could not believe I bought a baby truck. She said she has no idea why I would want to drive around in something so tiny. I showed her it is bigger than my wrangle, her answer the wrangler looks manly at least
One time my gf and I were in her wrx. Next to a guy with his gf. He stalled his jeep twice on this hilly intersection. My gf dumped her clutch, caught it perfectly, and peeled out. Was not a manly display for him.

Traded in a practically new 21 Ram 1500 Laramie with the HEMI and 4x4 for my Maverick. I liked the Ram but it was more my wife's idea of a dream vehicle rather than my own. I never really liked driving big vehicles but still bought the Ram earlier this year because I thought I would just need to get used to the size plus I knew she loved it. There is virtually nothing I don't like about the Maverick (with the exception of the engine sound). It's damn near perfect for me but she refuses to drive it and just says "its cute".

Hell with the money difference on the trade in, I was able to pay off her Highlander. Oh well, can't please everyone I guess. I do miss the sound system in the Ram though. That thing sounded amazing.
She drives a Highlander....she cannot be taken seriously....

Looking forward to the day when there's a Carvana type website for wife trade in (or husband trade in, don't kill me ladies!).
Aaarrrggghhh! The possibilities! What maintenance level do you want $,$$,$$$,$$$$,$$$$$?
Can train bird dog? Dress deer, hog, turkey? Always wearing perfect unblemished white outfit? Etc.....

So much to unpack on this thread…my wife doesn’t care what cars we have as long as I do the leg work there and they meet her criteria: better mileage than the last, can fit the dogs (I am a teacher- my kids go home at 2:45), can haul camping gear and kayaks. On this one she also made it clear what color she liked but that is out of the ordinary.

I have the opposite problem, My wife likes the Maverick. This is an issue as she wants to drive it. Consider your self lucky 🍀.

I felt like I should have a spreadsheet coming to my woman about this truck lol. I just went into it confident saying, hey I ordered this truck and it will be here in February if I'm lucky. Pretty sure it will fit my needs and our needs, I couldn't beat the price compared to the $60k F-150 I originally wanted. She actually was excited about it and didn't say some things I thought she'd say about it lol.

She just thought this small truck was similar enough to a silly Honda Ridgeline (not a truck) type of feel.

Clearly you don’t need a large vehicle to defined your machismo& you can upgrade the sound system yourself !
It’s a win-win for you. U like the vehicle and you’re saving money on depreciating assets! Sounds like you could put an actual dollar amount on what you saved !
😌 if you tell your wife about$savings she’ll probably use it as a justification to go buy stuff….🤣

Subaru gal so....ascent it is. oh god. I'd take the Sienna hybrid tbh. A buddy has one for his family and it's plush. But she hates vans
Yeah. The Sienna looks pretty great. I would probably take a serious look at it if I had more than one kid. It's too much for a family of three.
