So far I sense lowest price and hybrid is your preferences. Beyond that what Features are a must have or wanted? What would your weekend warrior activities be? Towing, camping, overlanding/off road? Advanced safety features such as bliss, call pilot 360, cameras, ACC? Good audio system? Give us details of foreseeable uses of the vehicle in order to give you the best recommendations

Good Day!

Since they launched - I have been pining after a Maverick of my own. I am still in my very first vehicle, a 2021 HR-V which was more of a purchase of necessity than a strong want. Over the years I've followed the Maverick production issues and pre-order cycles, biding my time until I was in a position where I could purchase one.

I have been looking at Carvana mostly, seeing several XLs and XLTs becoming available with decent mileage and manageable price point ($26-$28k). The years range from 2022-2024, with 2025s being out of my desired range. I have also considered purchasing with a buddy of mine who is going to buy himself a new F-150 in the next month or so - he exclusively shops online across a multi-state range to find the best deal, he seems to think we could get a deal on a 2025 at the same time.

Does anyone have any advice? As it pertains to the following:
  • Have you purchased from Carvana?
  • Is a used Maverick worth buying if the price point is within $5k of a new one? I will be financing.
  • What year is the best Maverick if not a 2025 (I found a nice 2022 Lariat but it has several recalls on it.)
  • What should I know about my first Maverick?
Thank you all, first post here so if I violated any forum rules my apologies!
I wouldn't purchase a tampon from carvana

Everyone talking about going with the 2025 makes a great point! I think I still have the mindset of when I was looking back when the Mav was harder to get and fulfillment was taking such a long time - that I have to settle for a used one. Every time I went to a dealership they would say the price on the site was before the dealer markup and that left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

As it stands this is my first Ford vehicle. Looking forward to it. Anyone bought from Planet Ford out in Texas?
If you are planning on keeping it for 5+ years, go new. You can pick the options, color, and know the history of your truck (repairs made, not covered by insurance, don't show up on CARFAX) Get a quote from Granger (3% below MSRP) and show it to a local dealer for better deal. If you are trading in, let Carvana give you an offer, they are easy to deal with, and will hand you a check right away. Either way, new, or used, get an 10 year extended warranty from Granger Ford, that is transferable to the next owner, that will get you top dollar when you sell, or a refund on the remaining time. All ESP's start on the day the vehicle was first registered, not the day you buy the policy. Take your time, this is a big commitment (30K) the time you add everything up, don't rush!

I want to use the Mav for lugging around landscaping supplies for the house, materials for reno projects, furniture I find at junk sales, my paintball equipment, towing light loads.

The car I have is my first car ever and it came with lane-assist, blind spot detection, emergency braking, backup camera, heated seats, power window and seat (driver side), it has ACC (I never use it) - I know that isn't the top of the line by any means but I would feel like I took a step back if I didn't have them. Audio system is important, but my current vehicle is pretty standard and I have no complaints.

I feel like the XLT is where I need to be, a Lariat would be the ideal but maybe when I trade up in a few years. The 2024 Hybrid FWD should be able to haul any loads I need to haul - with its 2,000 capacity.

Wow - writing this kind of just clears it up for me. :)

First off Congrats on choosing the Ford Maverick! It's a great truck with lots of features and great gas mileage! In doing research for my Mav, I originally was looking for a 23MY XL Hybrid (they didn't charge extra for the Hybrid in 22 or 23, but they did on the MY24). But nobody had any and it was way past the order deadline to order one. Dealers were WAY overcharging on New Models and even charging way over MSRP on the Used Ones they had in stock. It was popular from the start and a lot of people paid way over sticker price just to get their hands on one. As you stated you are aware of the recall issues, I have been lucky since my model only has had the 1 rearview camera one that the dealer fixed. 22 and 23's had several others. The only thing I didn't get that I wanted was heated seats, but I couldn't justify the extra money to get an XLT to be able to add that feature. Mine has remote start, so not really an issue. The only other issue I had (like many others) was the remote features disabled message on the app. Battery for some reason would run down and send the truck into a low power mode when it was parked. After some troubleshooting, my dealer changed that battery and I haven't had the issue since. One thing I did notice in doing my research was that Carvana was usually a bit higher on Mavericks than other sites. Remember the Maverick does come with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty that should transfer to the new owner and the Hybrid Battery has an 8 year/100,000 mile warranty. I am in the process of getting mine ready to sell mine next month. It's been a great vehicle and I know I am going to miss it.

Thank you all for your awesome responses, taking all your feedback into consideration - I am greatly considering going with a new 2025 or a new 2024 (just found a 2024 XLT for $23k~, just need to drive 300 miles to get it).
That's a great price. What ever you buy, get the 10 year ESP from Granger, and the light prtection for about, $50 more. (headlights on a Lariat cost $1300 each) They change the whole headlight if one burns out. LED's don't have bulbs.

Well good luck with your purchase then. Lots of folks weighed in and provided advice that you don't seem real keen on accepting. If you're willing to make the 11 hour drive to Estero, FL they have 3 - 2024 Hybrid XLTs left.

Thanks man! Definitely taking it all in, not heading down the used road any longer. While I probably won't end up in a new 2025, I will be going towards a new 2024 so I can get the warranty so many people recommend would be worth it.

There are only 17 new 2024 hybrids left in stock in the nation, only 6 in your region, each 10+ hours away. I would act fast if I were you.

it's being delivered Monday 2025 XL, Eruption green 2.0, EB, 4K package, drop in bed liner, EW. $31.750 on the window sticker worked everything out with the dealer all taxes , prep, their paper work , tags and all that, $31.500 the extended warranty was like $3000 but I plan on keeping it forever, retirement car. as soon as my 401K opens pay it off in cash.

Get your OWN Maverick - Get a 2025 (they're different, and Better) and get a Tremor, a Fine step up in which you'll find every dollar was greatly worth it. GOOD LUCK!

Do you need the 4K tow package? . Looking at used Fords (certified and through "BlueAdvantage") the least expensive hybrid Certified Used for Sale in Holyoke, MA 01040: Truck Details - 757969000 - fordblueadvantage.com ) is a '22 XL Hybrid w/ 62k and they're asking almost what it sold for new. A new one is running almost $30k. Even though its out of warranty the $8k savings for the '22 would go a long way in covering any repairs that may come up.

And agree with the advice others have given - If you have to finance and need to go beyond 48 months then the car is too expensive. My recommendation is to buy a used one; ideally certified and well cared for and drive it till the wheels fall off
