Mavericks are becoming plentiful so the new price of a 2025 is not much more than a used carvana or car max 2023-24. Sometimes less. You should get a base 25xl for 26-27k
Step up to the XLT if for no other reason better trade in/resale value.
Buy new and spend the extra $2,000 for the extended warranty out to 100,000 miles.

Try not to finance the extended warranty.
If you need efficiency get the hybrid. Only consider the Ecoboost if you need to tow or climb mountains a lot or like to go fast. Like Interstate drives. The turbo is very efficient at 80 mph. Not kidding !
In the city/urban environment the Mavbrid rains supreme.

I’m in a 2024 I bought new. Beat the $5,000 cost increase. But as the others say I’d buy a new 2025 over any used Mav. That $5K gives you more.

The Ecoboost does a respectable 27-31 mpg out in the open where it can run. BUT !
Inner city the Ecoboost will likely be in the 20-23 mpg range, depending on your right foot mostly.

Sites like carvana etc seem to sell used 2023 and 2024 for the price of a new 2025 if you shop around. I don’t know why people pay those prices. Just buy a new one and get warranty etc.

I received my 2025 lariat hybrid AWD (no upgrades) in December of 24. It's been a great vehicle in terms of excellent mpg, plenty of power, decent handling and ride, safety features, etc. I drive on paved highways and secondary roads, no towing, nothing fancy - only wanted a truck to move stuff around. After 3/4 of a year and 10K miles, I'd buy the same car again. I recently moved from TX to CO, and I'm hoping that it's a decent winter vehicle as well. Time will tell. Good luck!

I’m much older and for 20 years or longer, for myself and my wife, I’ve bought new cars that are leftovers. My 2024 Maverick was purchased in March 2025, new. It wasn’t with the nearest dealer but was only a state away. I received a $1,000 Ford discount and two $500 dealer discounts, plus got a fair trade. If you don’t mind settling for things like your second favorite color, I recommend you consider this. Dealers want to get leftovers off their lots when 5-10 of the new year models arrived.

Good Day!

Since they launched - I have been pining after a Maverick of my own. I am still in my very first vehicle, a 2021 HR-V which was more of a purchase of necessity than a strong want. Over the years I've followed the Maverick production issues and pre-order cycles, biding my time until I was in a position where I could purchase one.

I have been looking at Carvana mostly, seeing several XLs and XLTs becoming available with decent mileage and manageable price point ($26-$28k). The years range from 2022-2024, with 2025s being out of my desired range. I have also considered purchasing with a buddy of mine who is going to buy himself a new F-150 in the next month or so - he exclusively shops online across a multi-state range to find the best deal, he seems to think we could get a deal on a 2025 at the same time.

Does anyone have any advice? As it pertains to the following:
  • Have you purchased from Carvana?
  • Is a used Maverick worth buying if the price point is within $5k of a new one? I will be financing.
  • What year is the best Maverick if not a 2025 (I found a nice 2022 Lariat but it has several recalls on it.)
  • What should I know about my first Maverick?
Thank you all, first post here so if I violated any forum rules my apologies!
The only thing you should know about your Maverick is that you will LOVE IT!!!

If I understand you correctly, 2024 with the tow package + hybrid engine isn't that much difference than a 2025?
25 Hybrid also offers AWD for the first time, as it was previously only available with the Ecoboost.

If not mistaken the 2025 is the best price value relation, 2026 they started to remove things just to keep the price, then you have the exhaust filter thing.
I'm yet to go pick mine over at Granger, will be the Christmas trip.

Dang, I messed that up!

HRG
The dealer website erroneously lists the trans as CVT / AWD but that it has a 2.0L Ecoboost....I have seen that "error" a lot on several Ford dealer sites...it's a common oversight. Still a great deal, HRG....

Not really true in Canada, but hopefully it will get there.

Keep in mind that interest rates on used vehicles tend to be higher than on new ones. Depending on the loan terms,, that difference could be more than the savings seen with getting a slightly cheaper used vehicle. Even back when interest rates (and my credit score) were in the dirt, we bought a new Escape because the resulting payment was cheaper than on a used one over the exact same term.
