Yesterday I found myself in a life threatening emergency while driving in the Maverick. I'm not going into detail here, but when I went to call 911 from the console, it says that it has disabled the cell phone while the truck is in motion for my "safety." So I end up nearly having an accident. wobbling all over the road, trying to wrestle the phone out of my pocket so I could call 911.

So the cell phone disabler has outlived its usefulness. Is there a way to remove the cell phone lockout by using Forscan or other tool?

I can't answer your question, but I'm a bit confused, as this has never happened to me. Your phone was in your pocket, but was connected to the truck. Are you using a wireless AA/Carplay adapter, or just connected through Bluetooth?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't disable the phone, just the keypad dialing. Maybe try the voice-dialing feature?

The OP has a '24 XL, so doesn't have SYNC.

Are you saying an XL doesn't have hands-free phone capability?

HRG
No, the SYNC instructions you posted aren't accurate for hands-free on Android Auto or Carplay.

That's why I asked the OP how his phone was connected.

Got it, thanks. Wouldn't it still have SYNC, just not SYNC 3?

No, it has Connected Touch Radio. It's simply a phone interface for Android Auto and Carplay. It doesn't have any database functions as SYNC does. No storing of address books, no built-in commands, etc. Voice commands on CTR access your phone assistant, not SYNC, and it can't do that if it's not connected through USB. Again, that is why I was asking how he was connected.

Don't know if this is related to the question:

Thanks. Yes, that is exactly what I was looking for.

The 24XL does have some little phone icons on the steering wheel, but I have never used them. The phone connects automatically to the truck via bluetooth every time I get in it. It does sync with the phones phonebook and recent call list.

I disabled all of the android auto and ford pass stuff because it wasn't working other than to lock up my phone. If any of that stuff is required, then its probably not going to do any hands free dialing. I'll play with the buttons on the steering wheel and see if I can get them to do anything.

Thanks for everyone's input.

I recommend you use hands free operation with Android Auto so it doesn't complain about you operating your phone.

Android auto never worked on my truck so I disabled it. I have some buttons on the steering wheel that I will play with and see if they do anything, but I suspect they are limited to answering and hanging up.

That likely is a phone issue. I had a 3-year-old Android 12 phone when I first got my Maverick and it was glitchy at best. I've since upgraded to a newer Android 15 phone, and I have no issues with Android Auto on Connected Touch Radio.
