Yes it seems that the EB has strong advantage at 4000-6000 RPM and probably the hybrid is better 0-3000 RPM, so since 99% of my driving is below 4000RPM the hybrid is ideal.I've had both; 22 EB and now a 24 hybrid. Mileage in my EB was 32-33 hwy. The hybrid looses its comparative advantage if you mostly do hwy driving but still gets more hwy mpg than the EB.
The EB may have an advantage passing on two lane roads.
Since 70-80% of my driving is in San Diego I-5 traffic, I love getting 45-46 mpg in my hybrid. When I fill the tank the range shows as 600+mi. The hybrid has no problem accelerating on an onramp into traffic. The eCVT transmission is very smooth. I love my hybrid.
