Looks great! I was hoping someone came out with something like that, though I bet it would look at good or as durable as what you created. Nice job!

Sometimes it's the small details that make a big difference. This is a clever project (the mesh and the foggys), with very cold results. I'd used some of the aluminum mesh to fill in the gaps on my convertible dolly, works great and had already come in black (mine's a diamond pattern). Useful stuff. 😎👍

Great idea and execution! I have something very similar on my C8 to protect the front coolers and people use almost the exact product for 911 GT3's....

So to all the folks warning of reduced cooling capacity...Noted. I highly doubt any perceptible degradation in performance would be noticed on the EB's and the debris protection would far outweigh that....IMO.

Did my DD Fog Light install this week and since I had the front bumper assembly off there was sever other things I wanted to address the bumper the horns and the backup alarm… First it was the large opening on the lower grill.. Have been considering what I could do to make it look better ever since buying the truck in May.. Well last month I came across this 6mm octagon aluminum mesh while searching the web for something to add to my fender badges… It looked like it would work perfect for the lower grill so I snagged some off of Amazon..

First I made some rough measurements and cut a piece to do some more detailed measurements and bends..
IMG_3733.jpeg

I put a bend in the upper portion then marked it and bent the lower…
IMG_3735.jpeg

Then it was onto the sides contouring it around the plastic opening… When I was happy with the fitment I then shot it with some black primer and then several coats of satin black paint…
IMG_3736.jpeg

Now I just needed to figure out how to attach it, had several ideas… First thought was to pop rivet it in place but I didn’t really want to see the rivets… Then I thought why not use some thin safety wire and secure it to the vertical risers on the grill opening, unless you have your face up in my grill you’ll never even see them….

Cut and bent 8 of them hit them with some satin black paint…
IMG_3738.jpeg

Installing it was just that easy just fished the wires from the front around the vertical riser and twisted them tight, trimmed the excess and tucked the wire out of harms way….

Installed ready to go back on the truck…

This is the screen I used for my Chevy Volt to prevent road debris from hitting the lower radiator. This vinyl coated and does not need to be painted. They have one for the Maverick.

Hey HSBII while you had the bumper off did you see where tow hooks could be mounted ?
This video details the differences. Only the FX4 has the rear tow hook mounts welded to the unibody.
