12v port no longer shuts off when opening the door

As far as I know that stays on for at least an hour in mine. I tried to figure out how long but have up. It never just turned off when I opened the door.

The default setting in Forscan has it at 4500 seconds (1 hour and 15 minutes) and I did change that just to prevent it from staying on too long.

I always preferred vehicles with constant 12V on the port. That's the way the lighter plugs were originally configured. Comes in handy for charging devices and running accessories.

I do to actually, I just got used to this shutting off when I exited the truck. My old truck had one 12v port that was hot all the time and another that went off with the key.

I only have one port in this truck and with the battery issues I'm hesitant to leave anything on for long.

If you have more than one port including the USB ports the ones on the dash with the symbol stay on but the one's on the rear of the console if you have are one the key on. The fuse box in the passenger floor has both circuits available. Not sure but believe the harness has a tap for the rear power port under the console along with one for the inverter. Check those possibilities???

That is a lot longer than I thought it would be !! Glad you got it changed!

I'm sure it is just not sure at what point this effects the power to the port. Meaning if the state of charge is high does it stay on until you open the door and if it's low it would go off quicker? I have my doubts on the latter, because I'm pretty certain it killed the battery.

I'll check the USB ports to see when they have power and get shut down.

I did find out the state of change definitely changes how soon the 12v port goes off. My volt meter showed the voltage below 12v and when I turn the vehicle off the 12v port went off immediately.

FYI: on the 2025 In forscan there is an option to disable the powerpoint timeout in the BCM. The is also the option to set the desired time, the default is 2700 seconds.

I have a '23 Hybrid Lariat and the 12v port used to shutoff when you open the car door. The battery was completely dead today and after charging it up and starting the car I noticed the little 12v port volt meter was still on after shutting the car off and opening / closing the door. I checked back after about 15 minutes and again after 30 minutes and it was still on.

I did recently make a number of changes using Forscan to enable the adaptive cruse control and fog lights. However I cant see that any of those changes would effect the timeout of that outlet. I can see a timeout listed in the BdyCm but only in terms of seconds. I'd like to return it so it goes off when exiting the vehicle like it use to.

Any ideas??

It is supposed to work that way; it should stay on for something like 45 minutes. The reason you did not see this before charging the battery is that when the battery is a bit low the truck disables that feature to save charge. This happens well before the battery is bad/low enough to go into full battery saver mode. You charged the battery, so now the truck sees a full battery and will leave the 12v active, as intended.

As an aside, I can always tell when my wife has driven my Maverick because it almost always shuts off the 12v next time I drive it. Something about her driving style decreases the mileage by 3+mpg in any car, and doesn't charge the 12v in the Mav. AC may have something to do with it, as she always leaves it on and I always turn it off before I turn off the truck. (And that fits with the reported fix of updating the HVAC computer.)

Yup. This is part of the battery management.

Why disable this feature? use it! If power point goes off immediately then that is a sign to put a maintainer on the battery which has less than 12 or 12.1 volts!

I had this issue when I installed a cheap Costco dashcam. Power would keep it on until I unplugged it from the port. Annoying. Then with a separate issue with my phone connection, I toggled off Bluetooth in the stereo settings, and power was cutoff from the 12v port as soon as I turned off my Maverick. Thinking it couldn’t be something that simple I turned Bluetooth back on and tested it out. Power stayed on after I shut off the truck. So from that point on I disabled Bluetooth in truck settings.
