Am I a Luddite for not connecting Ford Pass?

It is a rhetorical question - I am a Luddite.

Don’t need no fancy remote anything or electronic reminders of anything either. Only use my IPhone navigation while driving - no radio etc. I want to hear my engine. Hear the sound of the road.

I do understand the Ford Pass App can be very useful for non Luddites. Actually a pretty cool app I’ve heard.

But I do have a non rhetorical question though - am I harming my Maverick by not being connected?

And no, you are not in any way harming your Maverick. Yea the app has some nice stuff. Remote start, maintenance reminders, etc. Not critical.

I basically use it to remote start my truck at work, FOB won't reach parking lot/through building, and for notifications if my Perimeter Alarm is set off.

I also log oil/filter changes in it, and suppose I could locate it if someone stole it or I forgot where I left it, Lol.

It's also good for Deep Sleep notifications on the Hybrid

Edit: It also let me know my Engine needed replaced with the Powertrain Malfunction error.

I read somewhere that you can’t enter your own oil/filter change info. If you can - I’m going to sign up for that reason alone!

My iPhone CarPlay shows me where I park. Unfortunately in a multi story parking garage, it does not indicate which floor. I just know I’m over it or under it if another car is in my “spot”

You can definitely add maintenance records, at least on the Android app.

You are fine. I don't use it myself. It may have useful information, but I am savvy enough to stay on top of my truck. Don't like any big brother functions it may have.

Once upon a time privacy mattered to people and meant something .... now it is the who cares era in the age of depending on "screens" to navigate, communicate, and remember lol

Simple fact about them devices and connected apps ....

if the app is free, you are the product - Just read the agreement that you it OK to install it

Agreed, I hope we can bring it back to something at least a bit more nuanced.

You are not a very good luddite if you are using mapping. Toss that phone and get some paper maps! I use mine to start on cold mornings. I also use it to see where my wife ran off to while I was napping with the big red dog. If only it would tell me I forgot to zip my fly at the last restroom stop!
