I didn't even know that was a thing, I went and looked and the area is filled with junk from the previous owner. Gonna have to bust out a shopvac later.

If you want to wash it out I recommend parking with the front uphill and then removing the air deflector (two 7mm bolts and a press in plastic plug). The air deflector needs to slide up and towards the middle of the car to come out. It’s a little bit tricky to put it back and requires a bit of flexing the plastic.

You can also blast some water into the rocker panel from below by putting your hose right up to the drain holes.

I've been wanting a fix for this area. Hopefully Mabett will make them or something similar.

Hopefully, Mabett will offer DannyUncanny some money for his concept before they start selling them.
He came up with it. He deserves some revenue.

Nice work, but I would be concerned you might make the situation worse, closing that off. It may impede drying that area out after rain, snow, etc... I would prefer to just keep the area clear of debris when washing, and keeping it open to aid in keeping it dry. But for sure it's better than letting it clog up and not clearing it...

I guess we'll know in 10 years or so.... 😂

The area that is blocked off is all plastic already. The metal rocker panel is way down below and has plenty of drainage.

Correct. But blocking that area off will impede flushing that area out when washing the truck. It obviously doesn't matter to the plastic parts, but I want to be able to flush out the portion of the sill underneath, from the top as well. Probably not a big deal either way, I just prefer to keep mine open. That doesn't take away from the fact you did a great job creating the piece. 🤠 I might consider it if I didn't live in the rust belt...🙃

Here is a video kind of explaining the problem. The rear wheel wells have a pocket that collects debris and funnels it into the inside of the rocker panels.

So I made up a simple plastic part that just closes off that hole.

After seeing your post, I felt around in there and it was a small quarry of gravel and dirt. I sprayed it out and have posted pics of what came out. I never go off road but I do have about 1 mile of gravel road to drive.
Seriously Ford, how long have you been making vehicles? If Mabett does manufacture something suitable, Ford should have to supply them to current owners.

I would absolutely be interested in something like this. Ford couldn't see fit to make an entire wheel well liner? Oh boy...

Great work! I’ve also found things on my 2025 Maverick that require a workaround. But how could Ford have missed this? I'm both happy to know about it and depressed because fixing it is beyond me.

Is it now faster to make more? No idea if at all realistic, but I would love to buy one!

Follow that thread from Mabett about the preview of coming products. They have a picture of a cover, but not as nice as what was shown here. Unless of course the OP is interested in selling some? :)
