For the past few weeks, I have been looking on-line for some aftermarket wheels for my XL.
Checked on Craigslist, FB Marketplace and online with Tirerack (same as Discount Tire). For the past 10 days prices have been increased by quite a lot and would think that now the tariffs are showing its effect. Most of these wheels are made overseas. Below is just one example and there are a couple of more. Just had a chance to print screen the below as I followed this specific wheel for a while. These prices were just one day apart.
Anyone else is seeing this trend?

Non-steel wheels are almost 100% aluminum. The U.S. makes almost no aluminum, so almost 100% of it has to be imported from Canada with a 100% tariff imposed. So of course the price has to go up a lot. I'm actually surprised that wheel costs have not gone up a lot more.

Unless there is a USMCA in place. Guess until now they were able to keep the prices on whatever was still in inventory.

How long before this thread gets locked? lol

It can be interesting to look up the ocean freight Bills Of Lading to see where companies source their product. I like to use Import Yeti. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a good open source for air freight info (DM me if you have one).

Drag Wheels trade name appears to be owned by "Ultimate Product Corporation", which is listed under the same shipping address as Drag's website.

It looks like they get a lot of aluminum wheel shipments from China.

Thank you. Hope it will not be. It is not political but just to be aware of the price increases.
Most of the manufacturer list the country of origin on the specification part. Most all of them are made in Far East.
This wheel has now been reduced to $ 163.00 again while some other went up even higher.
The prices are all of the place.

Tariffs are having the necessary effect.
I think it was Whirlpool, the largest manufacturer of house hold appliances has just signed a lease for a plant in Illinois.

They are moving ALL manufacturing operations back home !
Ford, get it together or get left behind.

Do you think they will be able to get employees to do factory work?

Wasn't Bow Tech's motto, "Change or get left behind"?

If properly designed 10-20 techs will clear the factory floor and when all badges have exited, the line will run the production until a robot reports a problem and texts the appropriate messages to the appropriate tech/techs. After 30 months or so the bots will have paid off their cost.

This was the nail in the coffin for a local machine shop here. Competition from China, and to a lesser extent Eastern Europe (Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic) was hurting, but the massive material cost increase on aluminum and specialty steels hurt a lot more.

People just end up buying less, which means fewer jobs in distribution, shipping products around, sales, and installation. Federal government is also generating more revenue than ever from an inherently regressive tax. What can you do when people are this dumb.

When I retired from the Cancer business, Oncology.
I took a fun Job. I was a Guard at Ports America in Tampa Fla. We got a ship load of Aluminum cold rolls every other week. Some where around 150 class five flat beds came in for days to haul the Aluminum. That was one not so large port. We need Industry here.
