You do have me looking at the Ford cover now. To be clear yours came from the factory installed, not dealer installed correct? I would install myself before I let the dealer's low man on the totem pole do it. Every time I have been to the dealer there is a contractor repairing paint on vehicles with plates on them. I suspect big belt buckles of sloppy mechanics scratching customer's vehicles.
Yes, factory installed. And yes, people criticized me for ordering it from the factory, too.

I also noticed Ford has a rolling cover for $1200 but I can't find much info on it, like the material the cover is made of and how well it seals, plus I want something that won't be a bear to remove if I need the whole bed for bulk items. Plus you're going to lose a foot from the bed with the box the cover rolls into, not something I really want on a 4.5 foot bed. I will also look into the tri-fold by Ford, I want to make sure I can get something that locks and won't be easy for someone to pry open.
The factory hard roll-up is really well made; under the vinyl skin there's a full extruded aluminum layer, and it's secure because every section gets locked in by a latch on both sides. It can be completely removed in a few minutes by unscrewing four knobs, and it comes with the front seal everyone mentions. The killer feature IMO is that, unlike the flip-up tri-folds, you can open it fully without completely blocking the rear window.

Swiss army knife would be one of the hybrid versions. You lose payload, gas milage and cut your towing capability in half with the Tremor. If you are specifically just looking for an off roader then the Tremor would be ok.

I

f I was ordering I would have done it also. I saw one at the dealer that had just come in that was a customer order. The factory price for the cover installed was lower than the price to buy the cover from Ford.
It did delay my order, though. I ordered my '24 on Leap Day last year. I immediately got an email stating that they had met their limit for that option for April production. I figured it would be built in May.

Then, all summer long, they were out of the standard XLT wheels and/or tires, and for a week or two they had no EcoBoost engines. My Maverick wasn't built until September 26th, and I didn't get it until October 28th.

4x4 is better suited off road than awd, also body on frame is more rugged than unibody set up. Personally I dont own a trailer or anything because I rarely have a use for one, but its much cheaper than renting a trailer vs truck and trailer. But seems like your set on the tremor. Just get it, you're definitely upgrading from your current and neither option will disappoint.
Those are fair points and trust me I know this won’t replace vehicles with the equipment you mentioned, and I thank you for being honest with me about the pros and cons.

it sounds like it’s a decent cover, any experience on how well it seals against water? 🤔

My hang up with the hybrid is it’s a slower vehicle and with me driving mostly highway with a lead foot, I question if the fuel economy will really be that great for me. If I am getting only say an extra 5 MPG benefit over the Tremor in overall fuel economy, I would rather have the faster/more fun to drive vehicle.

But to be fair, I am convinced based on the comments here, I am doing a disservice to myself by not test driving an AWD Hybrid Maverick.

The hybrid is not slow. It will do 0-60 around 7 seconds. There have been a few that have gotten even under 7 seconds. Thats v8 full size truck times, Also it seems quicker because it has instant power.

Yeah more than anything, the Tremor's dual clutch AWD system really appeals to me because it adds the ability to lock the rear differential and lock the AWD system for a 50/50 split on power. I built a Lariet with the FX4 but the package didnt detail if it adds the rear diff/4WD lock onto that AWD system.

While this discussion was going, the dealership I was talking with texted me and I showed my interest in a Maverick but I didn't specify what trim, so I am going to see if they have an Ecoboost FX4, an AWD Hybrid and a Maverick. At this point I think I will have to drive them to really see what's going to fit me best. 🤷‍♂️
150 miles a day is going to be a lot of depreciation on an upper trim especially. If you can keep a 2nd commuter car it would make more sense to go Tremor and sort of share the commute? From a financial standpoint, it makes sense to go base trim if you're putting a lot of miles on. A swiss army knife is good, but with that drive you probably want a knife in each hand so to speak.

I'm part Scottish and part Jewish, so I'm double cheap.
The Maverick XL is the best compromise I could find with the current crop of new vehicles.
It will do most things I need a vehicle for, but would have preferred a 1980-90's style minitruck with a 6' bed and 2 doors (and not 16mpg, 20' long like an F150 and the like). I thought about a miniSUV like the Rav4 but I don't need back seats. In my couple months of Maverick ownership, I've rarely used the bed for anything; it's too tiny. I just use my Transit 250 cargo van if I have to haul anything larger than a suitcase, but it gets a whopping 15mpg. And as mentioned, I'm cheap, so the 45mpg I've been averaging in the Maverick is a BIG lure, and the van stays parked 90% of the time.

That's not too bad, I thought it was closer to 8 seconds but do you really think the hybrid would be worth it for someone who drives fast and does mostly highway driving? Again, I think I would end up getting lower fuel economy than what its rated for and regret not just getting the faster, more fun to drive version of the Maverick.

I had 2 highly modified mustang GTs (an 01 and 07) in the past and I'm not disappointed in the Hybrid.

Originally I was going to stick with 2 cars, my plan was to replace my Mustang with a Bronco and in a couple years when I get north of 300k miles on my Fusion to replace it with a Maverick. However, I am getting sick of paying the ever rising cost of insurance, all I hear from my insurance is everyone's insurance is going up, we can't help you and other insurance companies are charging even more.

I originally paid $200/month on my insurance for full coverage on 2 cars and now its $300. If I keep my Fusion and got the Bronco I originally planned it would have been $345/month. If I just insure the Maverick, I pay under $170/month. Saving $170/month is massive IMO and that's why I am going down to 1 vehicle.

The reason I am going for a higher trim is after my job and my home, I spend the most amount of time in my vehicle. I really don't want to compromise on the features/comforts found in better equipped vehicles. I am picking the Maverick as it's the best equipped, new vehicle I can find for under $40,000. Depreciation isn't really on my mind as I plan to run this vehicle for upwards of 8 years, that will get me out to 300,000-350,000 miles, I am not going to get much money on a vehicle with such high mileage once I trade it in.

In my case I am trying to consolidate down to 1 vehicle, so I can half my insurance payments. I am still interested in testing out a hybrid AWD but I feel that since I drive mostly highway and I drive fast, the hybrid won't deliver the fuel economy I would expect and it wouldn't be as fun/capable of a drive as the Tremor. I could put a lift and bigger tires to offset that but how much more of a hit to its fuel economy does it take?

Also I spend a lot of time in my vehicle, I really don't want to give up the features/comforts found in better equipped vehicles. As for the bed, in my case coming from a sedan and a coupe, I get a lot more hauling options than what I have now. I get 5 1/2 feet with the tailgate down and I plan on a Diamondback cover so I can turn it into an large enclosed trunk when I don't need to haul something bulky.

That's good to hear but does the hybrid give you great fuel economy when driving on highways and at higher speeds? I'd like to hear more on this personally.
