Been thinking for a couple of years on a Maverick. Hybrid is a must with power window option. The rest is up to what I find. Not crazy about the 2025 grill area, so 2024 or older. My concern started when I was rear-ended at a light last year. VW GTI didn't look before pulling out of a side street and running in to me. Totaled the GTI. Rear bumper on the Ranger was bent down a little, $200 for a new bumper. Reading about newer vehicles and Mavericks, will a Maverick get totaled if it takes a low speed hit? Since it's based off the Bronco, is it built with larger bearings and other components to last like the Ranger? I've got 286,000 miles on my original owner Ranger.

Thanks for adding me.

to the Maverick forum from Alaska!

I was confused by the 2025 grill also. But I did not like any 2024s Hybrids that where available.

I love my 2025 Maverick & I don't even notice the grill anymore.

P.S. Only a Hybrid is towable four down behind a motorhome.

No one can answer that question because every accident is different. My guess the person that hit you slammed the breaks at the right time driving force down not just into your truck. That's just a guess, I do know if you look at the safety ratings there is a good chance of surviving that crash with the Maverick. Yes you might have to throw it away and wait for your insurance to replace it, but being able to survive an accident is more important to me than if my vehicle will survive the crash.

Many posts on this site, all you have to do is a search, that many Maverick's totaled. Many admit they can't believe they walked away from them as well. Unibody construction is designed to absorb the shock and impact and folding up like an accordion to help occupants to survive the accident/crash. Unfortunately it's not full proof but the NHTSA tests and rates vehicles. You can easily check on their ratings for vehicles you are interested in.

There are also rear bumper attenuators that go into the hitch receiver and may help limit some rear end accidents.
Receiver Hitch Step that helps eliminate rear end collision damage | shock absorbing hitch step | Superbumper | Bumper Shield
I think Weathertech makes something and I've been tempted by a hard rubber one.
Amazon.com: HitchHammer Bumper Guard (HitchHammer 11.5" Wide) : Automotive

Obviously, for a hard hit or an off angle hit, these probably won't help much, but they're cheap enough to maybe take a chance.

Thanks. Never saw those. Wish I had them on the Ranger. The VW couldn't have been going more than 10mph since he just pulled out of a side street. That car ventilated all its fluids over the back of my truck.

Welcome! Just to clarify, Maverick is built off the Bronco SPORT platform (same as Escape), not the body on frame Bronco. If you want a Bronco-based vehicle, look at the current Ranger.

My Observation - I hated the 25 grill, and made a lot of fun about it on this forum. I went to a mav meet up in Ft Worth and looked at a couple in person and I must say, they look a lot better in person than in the pictures. So before you cross a 25 off your list go look at them in person with an open mind.

I think at the Mav meet up the two Mav's were a Lobo and a Lariat, interesting

Wanting a hybrid Maverick to perform like the previous generation Ranger is a setup for disappointment. Can't have a high MPG vehicle that is highly indestructible. Physics does not allow it.
