I have 36000 miles on my 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid. I wasmtold that my rotors are getting small divots in them from all the road rocks. Suggestions on new rotors, dealer said it will cost about $1400 To replace.

Rock Auto sells new Raybestos brand rotors for Mavericks for $27.79 ea.

You shouldn’t need to replace them at that mileage, unless you are doing a ton of mountain driving.

Wow. Are your brakes working OK, and do your rotors seem to have divots on them?

Brakes on a hybrid should wear half as much as on an EcoBoost, something is really fishy here

As dhaskit mentions, rotors are dirt cheap on these trucks. Even $500 to replace them would be expensive. If it was my truck and braking is affected I'd replace them myself, but if you're not able to do that you should take your truck to a trusted independent mechanic to get a 2nd opinion & quote

1. Do your brakes work fine? 2. Are the pads still thick? If so. Don't worry about doing ANYTHING until the break pads get thin enough to require replacement. There is no need to address any imperfections as long as there are no symptoms as long as the pads are within the wear limits

If you're really worried about some "divots" after they rusted in the rain, get aftermarket coated rotors. The Ford rotors are very susceptible to surface corrosion, and the premium aftermarket ones are better and half the price.

That is total BS, $230 for a pair of rotors at NAPA and I bet they don't need anything, take a picture of them.

I'd get a second opinion.32,000 miles on our 23 ecoboost and we live on a dirt road. Rotors are fine.

That is most likely parts and labor. If there is no noise during braking, keep driving until your pads need replacing then check the rotors. Also, find a good independent mechanic.

$1400 is total highway robbery like I said $230 for both rotors and the pads are probably 1/2 that, so maybe at most $400 in parts, so $1,000 in labor. My son and I did his Camry in about 2 hours.

All good comments, in a distant past I was an auto mechanic, and specialized in brakes. While that was mostly ‘70’s, other than nearly all disc instead of drum, the basic mechanics haven’t changed.

I just did front on an Elantra, rotors & pads, about $190. Family, so of course no labor.

I’m away from my truck atm, so I can’t go look, how are stones hitting the rotors? Is there no backing plate? Anyway hard to visualize a rock actually hitting the rotors.

I with the rest here, get another inspection if you’re worried. And bid. Or as long as it’s braking smoothly, just drive.

Seems at best "unlikely" you would need new rotors with such low milage.

For what it's worth, one stealership told me I needed new tires at 17,000 miles.
I laughed and drove away.
(I was only there for my second of two free oil changes... have not been back.)
Same tires are on the truck now.
In a week I will pass 40,000 miles.

My truck. A 22 hybrid XLT with 49,000 miles on it, is in no need of pads or rotors. The only work I've done is bleed or replace the fluid. A 22 you do not need to hook up a scan tool, but newer models you do. The concern is on a vehicle that never gets a brake job the fluid will out live its useful life. Gets moisture in it. Ford recommends every 3 years. Last week I had a person run a red light and pull a left turn in front of me. All 4 wheels locked up just fine. Missed her by only a couple of feet. Then she looks at me like I'm the crazy person!
