The appearance package was a doozy. Over the phone they promised not to do any dealer options to the truck when I put the deposit down.

And when I arrived to pick it up they had already applied a ceramic coating for $800... I think I should have balked, but I had also just read the paint chip thread on my phone while waiting in their lobby.
theres no such thing as ceramic coating at a dealer. They screwed you. they did nothing to the paint.

Whoa…. I knowingly overpaid $500 for a “order opportunity market adjustment “, but I knew what I was doing when I ordered in 9/22. Most ADM dealer add ons were in the $5-$10k range at the time. Remember xl hybrids for $35,000?
OP has some classic add ons there and they are pretty hefty!

Try to cancel anything you can on there including the wax for $800 if you didn’t order it.

Get rid of that gap, buy from your insurance company if you want it.

This is a lesson to learn, read everything understand it and say no, no, no.

Almost all of us have been taken one way or another buying a vehicle, so don’t beat yourself up.

Get back there and remove that maintenance and warranty before it can’t be.

And in the end enjoy your new ride😎

The dealership asked if I wanted gap insurance. My answer was "if I did I would buy it from MY insurance agent not Ford. Second since the down payment was $12k I don't think I need it do you?"
Typically it also protects from depreciation so that even if he paid cash as we all know once you drive it off the lot it’s worth less and the insurance company normally wouldn’t cover full replacement without the GAP insurance.

I am so glad my dealer didn't try to sell me any extras, except the extended warranty! 3rd vehicle I have bought from them.

I'd like to see the fine print on a all-cash purchase, where the GAP coverage would pay for a full replacement.

I would think "Gap" by definition means the "Gap" (difference) between the then current value of the vehicle and the amount owed, not replacement value.

Yes, but replacement coverage is apparently similar. I'm just learning about it now. My auto insurance company offers replacement coverage but not gap.

I personally have never had a reason to get it. And some of the fees associated with your purchase are absolutely ridiculous. I would’ve never had paid them. I would’ve walked on that deal. No disrespect.

I guess I just don’t have as much disposable income as most people. I don’t pay for anything in advance and see what money I do have for when I truly actually need it. I guess I’m just a poor boy.

Yeah, I did pay cash for my Maverick. No tattoos. I do live in the country and there’s not a whole lot of traffic around here. I haven’t had a ticket or an accident in at least two decades. I do have a drive home work truck that my boss lets me use for personal Use also. My Maverick and my super duty sitting in the garage 29 days a month. I have zero bills. I save my money and live below my means. I don’t pay for anything in advance. I try not to worry about hypotheticals. and if something does happen, I have the cash to pay for it. I guess we just live in two different worlds. Peace out.

Not sure what virtue signaling has to do with the OP. If you’re special, just be content. No need to shame other people.

I agree they did not list the deposit. You got a 1578 discount from sticker that is the employee pricing. My Lariat was just over 1600 discount. The taxes there are ridiculous! But no income tax right? I would call about the deposit though. Did you get a receipt for it on the original order?
Thanks i just looked at my Paperwork after i seen his and looks like my Discount on my 2025 Maverick was $1,482.00.

Hey, I want to say thanks for the advice posted in the thread. I called the dealership today and spoke with the financing guy. He said they will send me the $500 deposit back and get me the paperwork to cancel the uneeded contract options.

Will have to see how this all shakes out, but I'm glad for now that the dealership isn't hassling me about the changes.
