Hi,

I picked up my Maverick earlier this week, and while going through the paperwork I noticed that 1) the $500 deposit I put on the truck is missing and 2) Nowhere in the purchase agreement or any other documents they gave me is the employee pricing plan listed.

I'm going to ask them to solve the deposit issue, but wanted to check here first if there's a way to be sure I did or did not get employee pricing before going to the dealership about it.. I'd appreciate your advice!

You haven't given us anything to work with. Do your sale documents only show the MSRP of the truck, or are there discounts/rebates other numbers shown? Maybe post some pics or scans?

I'm pretty well aware that I don't negotiate well. But now that I have the paperwork and some time to look at it I'd at least like to know what all is in it.

Thanks @MavStangVa.

I actually drove in from Alabama to buy the truck since I couldn't find any with the 4k towing package closer.. So they said that is Alabama taxes in the TN field. Didn't help with the whole taking my time to read the paperwork that I was in a hurry to get on the road and make it home by midnight.

Yes, I have a docusign PDF of the deposit.

Agreed, the vehicle price seems correct. But the $800 appearance package, the $2660 service contract (plus the $313 tax on it), whatever the hell a $695 Maintenance charge is, the $699 Document fee is outrageous, not sure what the $1200 Gap charge is, all add up to additional costs you should have questioned/declined.

The appearance package was a doozy. Over the phone they promised not to do any dealer options to the truck when I put the deposit down.

And when I arrived to pick it up they had already applied a ceramic coating for $800... I think I should have balked, but I had also just read the paint chip thread on my phone while waiting in their lobby.

I’d say they got you for roughly $5100 (appearance, maintenance, service and gap). I know it’s easier said than done, but I’d walk from that deal.

not sure what the $1200 Gap charge is,
Likely GAP (Guaranteed Asset Protection) insurance that covers the difference between a total loss payout and the balance of the outstanding loan.

Yeah, I don't have that kind of down payment to give me leeway haha.

Looking at earlier MY mavericks depreciation curve, I think the gap coverage makes some sense for me. If I total the truck at five years I'd be kinda screwed.

If you need gap, you most likely would have a better experience through your own insurance company. You can cancel some of those extras you paid for (if you didn’t actually want them) and get a prorated refund.

I have never seen so many added items, service contract, if thats an ESP, cancel it and get one from Granger, Maintenance? no idea what that is, service tax? and get gap if you need it elsewhere. The other costs, differ from state to state, but the Doc fees are a little pricey if you got an "Employee Price". Good Luck.

Based on the MSRP, that looks about right. The employee price is listed on the invoice in a box at the bottom; A/Z Plan (employee price). Ask the dealer for a copy.

At least he got a Velocity Blue Maverick.

I was talked into the Crystal Fusion™ | Hydrophobic Windshield Coating by the fast talking salesman. $1,989

He also tried to sell me a 10yr/100K extended warranty. I said no but got talked into prepaid maintenance plan. 7yr/60K of prepaid oil changes @7,500 miles. Max eight.
$2,738 ($2,738 / 8 = $342.25) I am going back to ask for a refund.
