Our logging company has always bought F250 4x4s, since the 1980's. Not great, but better than the other options. The random reliability always made me not want to have a Ford as a personal vehicle. Some of those trucks literally spent just as much time in the shop getting warranty repairs as they spent on the road, and a couple were bulletproof...same exact year and model and options.
My work truck is an old single cab dodge ram 2500 5.7 Hemi, i put over 40k miles on it in 2.5 years and im surprised how well it's held up. It's completely base with hand crank windows and just a key, no power door locks or any fanciness.

I don't baby that thing at all. It's got the common issues for that generation, mainly the manifold studs snapped off so the exhaust manifolds leak like sieve, but aside from that it's been great, no cel's or anything, starts up immediately, changed the oil religiously - at least for the 40k its been assigned to me - every 5k miles. It's supposed to be getting replaced later this summer with a '25 2500 diesel so we'll see what difference almost 20 years makes, but I won't be able to drive it like I stole it anymore

I'm glad I don't have to pay the gas because the ol' girl gets 11mpg on a good day.

What was the cost after the employee price?
The employee price at this dealership on the truck was $35031 for the truck with the mandatory protection plan ($987) they add to all trucks. That is what they called employee pricing. I remember being shown the invoice but didn't think to get a picture of it.

From the dealer website:
MSRP: $36,030
Protection Plan: $987
Your Savings: -$1,986
Employee Price: $35,031

Ford showed the employee price as $34,044.30 on the search tool.

The protection package wasn't as bad as some I have seen. It has 3 years paint, fabric, tire, wheel protection plus window tinting plus 3 oil changes and tire rotations.

We have a bit of a dealership monopoly here in central NC and I felt the need to get something before these prices increases landed and my trade gave out on me, so I didn't want to order one.

I went today and configured the same truck and the MSRP is now: $37525

I would have told them to remove it from the price or lose a sale. I walked away from the dealer who INSISTED I had to pay for it.
I did too. Second dealer gave me what I wanted.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. They did, as part of the negotiation. So I actually paid the employee price on the Ford website.

I owned a very low mileage GMC Sierra 1500 SLT and it was useful in our last 15 inch snowfall allowing me to go to and from my house in 4WD in luxury (SLT had all the belts and whistles with a pillow soft ride). I loved this truck except for the 14 mpg.

In February I had a new job starting in March which was a 31 mile one way commute. I did not want to put all that commute mileage onto my low mileage (under 20K miles) 14 mpg 2015 GMC.

I had been crushing on Ford Mavericks for over 2 years but in a very good deal bought and quickly paid off my GMC.

Nevertheless on February 7, 2025, I decided to sell my GMC and order an oxford white AWD hybrid Lariat with 4K tow package no moon roof no blackout.

At this time there was only talks of tariffs and Fords's A-plan announcement was still a month away in March.

So I put down the required $500 and even added $4K in dealer installed accesories ($1500 Ford hard trifold tonneau cover, $1200 body chip protection, $599 running boards, and front window tinting.) Dealer locked in this price against any upcoming tariffs.

That night Ford emails me my VIN and April 7th build date. I'm over the moon.

A week later Ford emails me pushing my April 7 build date UP TO March 17th. Good news indeed. Later in March out of nowhere Ford announces A-plan employee pricing so I call my dealer to see if my deal is eligible and he said it was and congratuled me on another $2K in savings (the best news ever.)

On March 19th Ford emails me saying my Lariat was built and shipped that day. Three weeks later it's delivered to my dealer who installs my accessories. I sign my papers and pick up my truck.

I could not be happier.

I did the same! If a dealership is forcing something on you that you don’t need or want, you shouldn't give them your business. An extended warranty isn't mandatory but if it's something you're interested in, that price too is negotiable.

Luckily, there are hundreds of Ford dealers, and you can just say "I'm not going to pay for that thing I don't want, I'm going over to the other Ford dealer across town". Usually they hate each other, and do not collude to price-fix.

I bought mine out of state because of a greedy dealer.

Has anyone compared the Ford Granger price to the Ford employee price ? How about Long.McArthur Ford ? I think these dealerships offer some of the best pricing around.

Granger had no hybrids available when I checked. I bought the one I found the right color and deal.
