I tried the search feature and little popped up about this. So here it goes. Has anyone found a good solution to channel water from the bulkhead area to the side rails then away from the canyon Ford designed into the plastic side rail caps? Ford engineers in the infinite wisdom, and I guess I should cut them some slack since Ford never designed a truck before, thought it would be a good idea to make the outer edge of those trim pieces higher than the bed side so ALL water funnels to the bed. I wish I had paid more attention to this aspect of the truck before I bought it. My 2014 F-150 was 99.5% water tight with a trifold hard cover. With the Maverick I will need to put anything I want to keep dry in a water tight tote, which I already owned so defeats the purpose of the cover, or accept it getting as wet as if there was no cover. I watched with the tailgate down and a bucket of water poured on the cover and water shoots out of those canyons like Niagara falls. Okay not really but you get what I mean. So if anyone has gotten their Maverick even 95% water tight let me know. The tailgate gap is another point but I understand why it is there.

You need to add weatherstripping on the bulkhead and tailgate. l have a Tuxedo Lowpro cover and do not get any water now that I have added the stripping.

This works really well. You will need to experiment to get the correct width and thickness of weatherstripping for your cover.

Water leaks in around the edges of the tonneau, and dirt road dust clouds in from under the tailgate through that huge gap that drains water when going up hills. Truck beds are not clean rooms.

So, delicate cargo goes in the back seat (aka auxillary cargo hold) to stay dry, clean, and room temp.

Not so delicate cargo, say a suitcase, is safe when wrapped in a tarp. Wrap the tarp all the way around like wrapping a birthday present.

Sturdy cargo gets hot, cold, wet and dirty! 🤪

Can you snap a couple pics and show us where you added the stripping and what kind of stripping you're using? That'd be SUPER helpful!

I understand putting valuables in the cab. But the point of a tonneau cover is to keep things relatively dry in the rain. the Maverick water spouts make it worse. I just don't want to have to put everything in a watertight tote after spending money on a cover. My 2014 F-150 had a foam filled folding hard cover on it and is still on it and is 99.5% water and dust free. If I have to wrap the suit case in a tarp then I don't need the cover at all.
Does the company offer returns with refunds?

I have not asked for a refund because I want it to work. I have talked to a customer service and installation video person about it. They admitted they hadn't gotten much feedback from Maverick owners so they weren't aware of the short comings. They are sending new designed panel latches and some type of tape they have tried using. It is a Maverick issue. Other trucks have 1 piece side rail caps. The bulkhead was designed to drain into the bed by Ford instead of putting a drain under the window. That area is a minor amount and runs to the drain in the corner of the bed so not too worried about that.
I read your first post, where the company admitted that they just took numbers and design the top rather than having an actual Maverick in front of them.
With the Maverick being of unibody construction and the bed not separate from the cab adequate draining of water in that cab bed area tends to be a bit of a sticky wicket. Extra set of clamps might help on the sides but then you run into you have to remove the clamps when you go to fold the cover.
My cheap -$400 Amazon folding hardcover leaks too, but I go through tunnel of torture car washes.
The top is actually waterproof.
It is going to be the areas around where it attaches to the front, water will pool where there isn't any area for it to drain like a regular truck bed. The top rail that has areas for water to seep between.
Showing in my pictures. Seeing as how the tailgate has a small upward spoiler like lip. That prohibits water from draining off the back, but most of that should run down inside the back side of the tailgate and drain through the bottom gap.

Good luck

I ordered butyl rubber tape to fill the valley in side rail caps. The cab area has to be able to drain so I will live with that.
Good luck with the tape. I also added some pictures that I posted to a thread last September to my post #18 above.

I feel your pain, I was hoping for the bed to stay dry too. Disappointment increased when I drove through Canyonlands National Park and all my stuff turned red from the dust coming in under the tailgate. But at least the tonneau still keeps stuff from being blown around or being blown out of the bed on the highway, and protects against thieves too.
