New 2025 XLT Hybrid with 800 miles on it. When going from coasting to slight acceleration and back there is a very subtle rattling sound, like the orbital gearset can't quite decide what to do. Almost seems like I feel a slight vibration in the 'gas' pedal but hard to tell. Anyone else hearing/feeling anything like this? Otherwise drives and rides just fine, averaging 40mpg combined driving.

Edit...Also have a 2024 Corolla Cross Hybrid which doesn't make the sound.

Seems too subtle to get a recording but I'll look for a nice smooth road surface to minimize noise and see if I can get something noticeable.

Just went out and was able to get something at slow speeds under very light acceleration...a rattly rachet-y sound most noticeable with a couple short instances after 1:15

It's not, since this time I could very slightly feel it in the gas pedal. Seems/feels like something in the CVT making it in response to very light pedal input. I'm wondering if it happens in other hybrid Mavericks too.

Some people have had issues with the clutch dampener, connection between the eCVT and the ICE.

Yes, see that in a search but those cases were under hard acceleration and generated a code. Mine accelerates just fine with no slippage and plenty of power. It's only at low speed and there are no other symptoms. Plan to just keep driving it and take it to dealer if something changes or it gets worse. Hoping it will smooth out and go away as things wear in but we know how that can sometimes go. "Hey, it fixed itself", "Yeah, sure"...

My 2025 hybrid has a similar noise, it does it under light load when the gas engine engages. I am 99% sure it is the damper, I have been driving manual vehicles all my life and it feels that the Maverick makes the noise when the damper engages kinda in the same way that you feel when a manual clutch damper engages when you let go the gas and accelerate again (difficult to explain) anyways, the damper on these Hybrids looks like a manual transmission clutch without the friction surface. My guess is that the springs on the damper are loose and it makes that noise when the engine starts to rotate, the noise goes away under load. I'll take it to the dealer for my next oil change and I will ask the to diagnose it. They will probably say that it is not an issue as it doesn't affect driveability and the is no TSB that I know of.

So now with the 2025 Hybrid - people gotta start including AWD or FWD in their descriptions.

It can go into the Vehicle details section of profile, even though that's not available to see in mobile browser.

Do you have the screens enabled to tell you if you were in hybrid mode and it went to EV mode?

Since the generator motor would be going from RPM for proper gearing to RPM to stop the engine from turning, that could in theory be a complete reversal of direction depending on speed and power load.
And 25's go up to it sounds like 15% power, not 10% like prior, as switching point for when to switch hybrid to ev.

Yes, it sounds like yours is doing exactly what mine is. I'll ask the dealer about it too on my first oil change but don't expect much from them either. Sorry yours is making the noise too but it's good to know I'm not the only one. Hopefully it's a non-issue.

Mine is FWD only (I'll edit my signature) and it does seem to occur when the gas engine engages under light load, going from electric motor only to both running.

Since your truck is new. Perhaps taking it to the dealership and having a service manager go on a quick test drive would help your situation.

That's a good idea, to at least get it on record in case something does come of it.

What type of fuel are you using? Just about all new engine designs advance the ignition to the point of light knocking and then back off slightly. If your fuel is substandard, that would cause excess knock.
