Yep, you can lock the doors with the key FOB inside. I tested that feature if you want to call it that.
It's a nice feature if you want to go swimming or hiking, ATV riding and don't want to lose, get them wet or having to bury them.

I got the below, cut for door only obviously, but very small and can carry in wallet and can get in.
I'll need to borrow pliers when it's time to use it.

Sadly, if keys were locked in, and phone was locked in to prevent remote unlock, chances are good wallet is setting right there with the others - and someone thought they were being helpful locking the doors without asking.

But it’s pretty difficult to lock the doors with the keys inside.
Not with non-keyless entry.
2024 XLT same as OP - very easily done.

Shame on Ford for having a key in the FOB to begin with. I understand the need for having a FOB, but not with a key. Push button start has been around for a long time and should have been standard on all models of the Maverick. The cost to provide this would not have been dramatic.
All the extra receivers and sensors and wires required for keyless entry - depends on what dramatic increase means?

All their keyless-entry fobs have a physical key.
You realize what happens with dead battery and only keyless entry and no physical key?

I noticed that there is a huge lip on the hood toward the windshield. No one would think to look under there.
In the past, I bypassed the "hide-a-key" clunky box and just glued a neodymium magnet right to the key. A friend used a neodymium magnet on a short strap.
Great idea until you remember it's an aluminum hood......maybe on the steel hinges or something else you could reach with a strap.

glue an additional magnet under the hood! Just make sure it's polar opposite to the one on the key...

I have an extra key, not a fob. Will get cut incase my truck locks me out. I'll keep it on my house keys in my pocket. It will unlock, but not start the truck.

Beautiful Shelby....where do you hide the key to it? Asking for a friend....
You don't need a key to steal any 1960s Ford. Just unplug the ignition switch and hot wire it!!, lol Really easy to pop open the door lock also!

Don't need a key to steal any car. Roll back truck and away you go.
If I'm a thief and I own a rollback truck. I sure in the hell I'm not going to concentrate on Ford Mavericks.🤣🤣🤣🤣
