New question for all those that replied to the first one:

Where do you hide your checkbook, cash and credit cards in your truck when you are in the store for 30 minutes?

Just kidding. Don’t answer that one either.

Side note on home security:
You can have 14 locks and deadbolts on the door to your house but if you have a garage door opener in your vehicle that’s parked in the driveway, it’s pretty easy for a thief to gain entry to your house. Just something to think about.
Play smart. Play safe, my friends.

i think it was a very good question as i had a terrible time finding a place that was hidden, easy to reach and where the hide a key box would stick to!! It was Ez on my F150, lots of metal cross beams to tuck one into. On the Maverick i couldnt get it to stick under the bed rails? I only leave a key that opens the truck, it will not start it.

Excellent idea if you don't have the wireless keypad.👍

Don't forget the bed cubby as a hiding place. If you dig out all my tie-down straps and misc I pack in there, you'll find my spare key at the bottom.

You don’t need to hide your key fob, if you have your phone on you like most people,it opens my doors just fine.

Phone would be fine if you don't accidentally lock it inside or you find a location that doesn't have cell coverage. Despite what the big companies advertise, they don't cover the whole country.

The first week I had my Maverick, I managed to lock the fob inside. Must have bumped the lock when I pulled the handle to open the door.

Anyone have a unique hiding spot for spare key fob?
you don't really think that I could leave you alive after telling you, now do you?

🤔

but if you have a garage door opener in your vehicle that’s parked in the driveway,
my wife was annoyed when I wouldn't let her keep an opener in her van, which parked in the driveway, being taller than the garage opening . . .

Not much to what i call a bed rail but it works! If i didn’t want someone to steal the truck i wouldn’t be putting a key in the bed of the truck to start with.but youre right, the bed rail isn’t like a f150 at all.

Wireless keypad seems like the most elegant solution, though not the most cost efficient. An additional advantage being that it cannot be "found" in the same sense as a hidden spare. Definitely worth it to me, personally. Plus, this lets me store my house key in the console, giving me a "hidden" place for that particular item.

Wireless keypad is good but after 5+ years, the battery will go dead. The one time I really needed mine on my Ranger, the second battery (yes, they can be replaced, not easily) was dead and I had locked my phone inside accidentally so I now have a well hidden backup key plus the keypad on my Mav. (Belt and suspenders)

If tou are concerned about being locked out you could either use the app to unlock it or buy the wireless keypad. But it’s pretty difficult to lock the doors with the keys inside.
Joy....you might want to take out your last sentence. LOL Have you been on this Forum??? Just search...."Driver's door locks itself" Thanks. :)

I noticed that there is a huge lip on the hood toward the windshield. No one would think to look under there.
In the past, I bypassed the "hide-a-key" clunky box and just glued a neodymium magnet right to the key. A friend used a neodymium magnet on a short strap.

Yep, you can lock the doors with the key FOB inside. I tested that feature if you want to call it that.
