I hate to be paranoid,, but does my 2024 Maverick report my driving habits to anyone? LexisNexis, ,etc. I know that some vehicles allow you to report the data for a lower insurance premium, but doesn't do it automatically? Thanks. I have to go now, someone's after me. steve

The computer in the truck is definitely attached to an AT&T cellphone connection. That's how the "start my truck via app" type of thing works. Yes Ford knows where your truck is. I'm not sure what else it reports, to disable you can pull the fuse for the connection.

I know I have seen the option buried in one of the menus but mine is unchecked and I assume if you check it you also have to tell it what company to share it with. I have never been asked if I would like to opt in here in BC Canada so I don’t think they care.

Sadly all the OEM's have been called on the carpet for data mining, privacy violations, and selling your data. You are paranoid, but probably not paranoid enough! ROFL

Onstar has been caught and there have been legal actions taken against them for illegally collecting data even after opting out of their services. You can find articles outlining some of the known things that are going on with the various OEMs. Just because you opted out it may not stop the collection.

There is probably a big legal smackdown coming for the OEMs. As someone else stated in the Maverick there is a fuse for the telematics system you can pull to terminate the link to the mothership. Next watch out for the apps on your phone. They are especially sleezy about collecting your data. People are pretty unaware how much implied consent is being given just by installing an app and what they can do. If you are concerned about privacy specific to the Maverick I would pull the telematics fuse and not install the Fordpass app. Once you start down this rabbit hole you can be driven to madness. Choose your battles wisely! LOL

I didn't do the FordPass on my 24 - no use for the remote features and I'm as anti-tech as I can be lol Didn't feel like selling my voice, conversations, camera images , phone content etc ...

- And can tell you the truck does not click/make random noises near as much as my 22 did when off. Friends always mentioned when near the truck it was making noises and joked it was recording them ... Joke ? lol -- I enjoy the silence and find it a night and day experience

I started specializing in offensive cybersecurity and penetration testing about a decade ago, and that fuse will be removed before I roll off the dealer lot and the radio emissions of the truck verified on my spectrum analyzer once it rolls through the garage door at home. If you don't want to be paranoid, don't go into security research :)

My other vehicle is 30+ years old and pre-OBDII. I always joke if I want to be invisible I just leave my cell phone at home and take that to work lol.

Hard to be invisible with FLOCK/ALPRs on every street corner and in every parking lot these days, but you can at least button your fly and eliminate most of your digital attack surface heheh. https://deflock.me/

@sg777 that's the response my wife would've given!
Where is the fuse being discussed? Also, if I remove it, is there a downside?
Thanks, Steve..... I am a newbie to this truck. That's for sure.
This is a copy and paste of a member heres post from last Dec. Thanks @Ozarkbeard for the info:
If you want to turn off data transfer, pull the Telematics fuse, which powers the AT&T cellular Telematics modem. It's fuse #11 in the passenger footwell fuse box behind the big blue plastic panel above the carpet. Nothing else is powered by fuse 11 and the truck functions just fine. No nag screens or other annoyances.
